With HSR, also benefit Sporean/FTs. We just go to KL airport via HSR then transit to other countries. Pay in ringgits. Cheaper.

True for higher wage workforce... possible because HSR ticket to kl is definately >SGD 50 to KL. So daily fee SGD 100 (2way), 1 mth SGD2200 (22 days work week). if momthly pay > 7k maybe ok 😁 . It is also for sporean go holiday in north, even retire in msia, coming back to sg is easily.

TA_Expert      ( Date: 02-Jan-2021 03:58) Posted:

No, HSR is not meant for JB Malaysians but northwards. For example, many KL Malaysians wanted to come to Singapore to work. Imagine just 45 mins journey from KL to Singapore, faster than airplane.

WIth this HSR, one would expect more Malaysians coming to Singapore to work given the strong SGD

Daily commute to sg from jb? should be the MRT (or RTS)... not HSR. 😁 Hope that one is not cancelled.

The biggest loss is Malaysia, not Singapore.

Now millions of Malaysians can' t commute to Singapore to look for jobs easily

Pretty long and lonely one.

I get this feeling that Malaysia had wanted to connect with SG in the North if they wanted to put a station in JB. Jurong. terminal could be deal breaker due to far off location.

I believe Malaysia will go on its own for Phase 1 because it is easier to "govern interested bidders" without interference of Singapore Govt as JV partner.

When Phase 1 is settled and HSR is ready for linking to Asia hinterland (Thailand/Cambodia/Vietnam/China etc), Singapore is the one that will feel left out of the land connection. Malaysia can then invite Singapore to connect at its terms (cough out SGD100m and much more ...). Very strategic of Malaysia - impressed.

Demise of HSR will be a good boost for SIA as the KL-SG air route will benefit.

They are not going to take HSR Train to Singapore daily to commute lah. They prefer to ride their motor-bike using Causeway.
