I think the Shortist has covered about 20-25% of his massive 2 billion shares short position.
Pretty painful as he sees much of his paper profit eroding away. Hard to explain to his boss at Goldman Sach or JP Morgan....

We have been bombed 💣 with negatives for months. Now that things look positive with project completions, new contract wins and a possible merger. April Maybe the silver lining we have all been waiting for. Lets sit tight.
If we stick together, and decide we won' t jump and sell. This is a perfect storm to turn this into a Singapore version of Gamestop. As long as Shorts need to be covered, new buyers want to come in and no willing sellers, sky could be the limit. TH is not going to be selling anytime, so we know a large portion of stocks in circulation are already off limits.

Yes, some yards that swallowed too many unprofitable contracts are now in ICU. Just google " Sapura Energy" , Malaysia' s largest yard.

Absolutely correct, it's a blessing to clinch contract now with clauses that adjust for rising material and wage cost in this inflationary environment. Firms are more willing to accept given the high revenue they earned from higher oil prices and hence higher profitability than before. Otherwise, they can't find contractors. Which also means those who managed to clinch contracts 3 years ago are likely to make losses. In this case, no contract is better than having contracts

SMM announced that it had won a contract for a WTIV scheduled for delivery in early- 25. We estimate that this contract win is worth approximately S$600m and could be as large as S$800m depending on the specifications. Keppel OM secured a contract to build a WTIV for Dominion Energy in Dec 2020 for $600mil. Factoring in the increase in cost over the past 1+years (steel, manpower, limited yard capacity), the same vessel would likely cost $100-200mil more. Further, SCM used key words like " bigger turbines" and " next generation" , $700-800mil might turn out to be conservative, depending on how " next generation" the vessel is.
