I agree. It will be a while before things go through. That is what i meant by oppurtunity cost. You can use yr cash to buy some other stock tat is on the move. There is chance to collect this later when it goes down further. I' m still waiting for SIAS to sound off. Not that i value their opinion but just curious to see what they will say. I was vested at 1.47.

Samo samo. It happened to NOL too. Will continue down until big funds decide they want to bring it back up. I remember NOL also ding dong ding dong like this until funds realised that buying up started then it went up to offer price.. Deal will most likely go through so just have to see if hv holding power to hold or opportunity cost too high to hold.

Singapore Airlines (SIA) is not lifting its buyout offer for Tiger Airways despite claims that the offer fails to consider the views of long-term minority shareholders.
SIA said in a statement yesterday that its offer for the budget carrier is " compelling" , adding that market analysts have also recommended that shareholders accept it.
The airline said the offer price represents " premiums of between 32 per cent and 42 per cent over the last traded price and the one-month and three-month volume weighted average prices of Tiger Airways shares preceding the announcement of the offer" .
Citing the report from Maybank Kim Eng Securities, which had been appointed as the independent financial adviser for the general offer, SIA said the offer price also represents a premium of 42.6 per cent over the average share price target estimates of research brokers on Nov 5.

Wednesday' s announcement has sparked a lively debate on whether the offer price of S$1.68 a share is adequate. There are gripes among shareholders hoping for something closer to S$2 - but this being a scheme of arrangement rather than a general offer, the offer price will not be further revision.

So if based on 5% EBIT margin as a guideline on revenue of $1.3bil, SMRT EBIT will be about $65mil per year. Their note interest is about $12.5mil so after deducting interest and tax, the NP is about $44mil. If they payout 100%, then div will be abour 3cts. At current price of $1.55, that' s about 2% yield which is half of what they used to paid.
If fund seeks better yield, they will pull out of SMRT and go somewhere else.
Also since under the NRFF, the lease is 15 years rather than 30 years, will PE adjust to reflect this?
I don' t see any upside for SMRT more flat or downside.

Smrt has been given a long time for her to pick things up and restore things to basic operational standard. Unfortunately, even swap of ministers couldn't make things work. I'm seeing this as a deep-set problem whereby change in mgmt or ministers wouldn't be able to help. I'm losing faith in Smrt as a share that can be held for long term. It's sad as it's supposed to be a monopoly and defensive stock as long as rail network is concerned. I'm wondering if there needs to be a change in company (taking over smrt's role) to lift the met standard in Singapore.
