As such, in my personal opinion, logically existing shareholders, regardless their view on the deal or company prospect, should sell in the open market now. Use the fund to invest in other under valued stocks.

They behind the scenes come up with plan to ensure this deal will go through. Check prospectus or further down this chin.I published major holders of SMRT. Major holders shares are held by Temasek. LOL Demostation      ( Date: 25-Jul-2016 15:11) Posted: Nowadays, voting is always by polls and not by show of hands.   So the " auditors" will count how many shares voted yes and how many voted no.   Tell me retailers like us got chance to steer things in our way?   In Sg it is never.   Rarely if any voting resulted in a " NO" unless a major holder has enough shares and combined with other shareholders' shares make up the majority in the counting.
