The share price drop from $1 to 94 cents already proves that if Sheng siong still open stores where it is inaccessible and delivery is only to North Eastern parts of SIngapore, it won' t survive for long.
​ We are not talking abt Redmart or lazada or qoo10 as these poses no direct threat as they are not well known. AMAZON is a super huge company with lots of money to burn. I think they will be successful to tackle even 
NTUC, ColdStorage. It is only less tha a week since they start operations and it has create ripples in the industry.

Er.....(==" )....why send email, try to gather gang effect. Anyway, a dip will provide us windows to replenish stocks.
Hope can one stone hit 2 birds, gain $$$$$ & hit shortists.

In Singapore it is not like in US where people are moving towards shopping on line even their groceries. Here we go to hawker centres to eat drink and also shop in super markets. We enjoy our trips to stores and the shopping experience. This is a wrong notion that e-commerce will kill businesses like Sheng Siong in Singapore. I believe many will agree with this.

One advantage that SS has over Amazon is definitely the local context and knowhow they have painfully acquired over the years. You don' t just come in and expect to " disrupt" just because u are a giant. Even walmart failed in countries like Russia, Germany , South Korea because it does not understand the local context well enough.

I expect SS' s share price might correct because of this Amazon Prime Singapore fanfare. But this would again present a good opportunity for long term investors to scoop. I hope to ride on these negative sentiments and collect chea

The variety of grocery u can get from SS is also diverse with much wider range. This stock has a rock solid base, and this dip is definitely caused by irrational market sentiments. What many people worry about is that Amazon could prove disruptive like how it did to Walmart in the US or how uber/grab is to comfort delgro in Singapore. However, while Amazon can flourish in countries which has a sprawling land mass, the convenience of supermarkets located within close proximity to housing estates will supercede this comparative advantage of Amazon.  

Moreover, this is a defensive stock which caters to the HDB dwellers with its cheap range of food products. Compared to the dairy farm group, the clientele base is less likely to turn to amazon which requires 1)IT savviness and 2)min. purchase orders, also considering that this consumer base prefer going to supermarket for the consumer experience.

2 million shares shorted yet to be covered also. This price could still rise especially if market recognise the reason for the swing.
