Singapore is a small market, yes.
But why Uber and Grab burn money here?
Why TPG burn money here?

My views on SSG.

1) SSG is a small company (unlike Dairy Farm)
2) SSG will not survive if Alibaba/Amazon decides to burn money to capture the market (just like how Uber burn their money to gain market share in china market not to mention Amazon love doing this too hurting their net profit (pathetic by the way) )
3) Point 2* will only happen if SG consumers start shifting their buying behaviour to e-commerce (that includes buying fresh food online). & it doesnt make sense to burn so much money in SG just to capture a small market share like Singapore (What is singapore' s population again?)
4) almost 50% of SSG' s revenue is derived from Fresh food.
5) If you believe in what Jack Ma' s startegy & beliefs. Mr Ma believes that Brick and Mortar will and nv replace E-commerce especially in this industry. Hence the creation of Hema Supermarket in China. Having said that O2O is important too.
6) Jack Ma has E-comm presence in Singapore (Redmart) have no Brick and Mortar presence. Applying point 1) and 5) , is there a possibility that Jack Ma will acquire SSG in the future?

If yes, I think the one should start to accumlulate this stock

The impact of Amazon on SS is overhyped. The euphoria (and hysteria)will soon fade and Singaporeans will return to their normal shopping habits. I doubt Amazon can continue to provide free delivery and free memberships and compete with the likes of SS,NTUC etc. Will continue to accumulate.

SS cannot stand the heat from Amazon. Even NTUC and GIANT are feeling it. Look at the prices at the stores , all slashing and matching the prices of Amazon.Prime.

May be Diary Farm has bottomed out and will run rather than SS which seems to be a lame duck

Would Dairy farm better?

SuperLuckyCorn      ( Date: 02-Aug-2017 11:56) Posted:

Yes. PE> 20, so not easy to jump 30~50% . But so far relatively stable return and the current drop (from " coffee shop" hearsay) is to show " their power" , how easy ppl can be influenced....Er..oops...say too much. blushblush

8/8...hope the national day effect will help too. Plus M1 effect.

8/8 could go both ways, with many weak players queueing to sell their shares after getting dividends.
