Agree...
Based on report, SCI SH holds about 37% of SM....that is crazy a lot.....
Defintely sell down is understandable.....

The SCI retail shareholders received about 4.4 billion of SMM shares. Assuming half of them wanted to sell, the potential supply would amount to about 2.2 billion shares (18+% of SMM).

I speculate that this selling wave would continue til the second half of October when SMM is scheduled to give their 3rd Quarter biz update.

Personally, I hope that SMM can stay below 15 cents til then so I could accumulate more at favourable prices.

The breakdown of SMM ownership
Temasek- 42.6%
Formerly SMM minority shareholders- 19+% (unlikely to sell as their mother shares and rights shares are acquired at much higher prices than current)
SCI shareholders beside Temasek- 37+%

As most of the transactions in SMM shares over the past 2 weeks were likely faked, no sure how much of the 37+% has actually changed hands.

I think the selling from SCI SH still on-going....Hence, the lower in price.
Will need a while more to stablize.

Dear uiop1223,

as I recalled, Temasek sold their NOL stake at a good price in 2016 and use the proceeds to invest in Alibaba, Tencent, Taiwan Semiconductor etc which has multiplied many folds since.

As I also recalled, Temasek' s stake in Hyflux is minuscule, and they have the foresight to sell their remaining stake way before Hyflux got into trouble.

Now, Temasek rightly withdrew their Keppel&rsquo s offer and stay on course with SMM. Nothing, personal, just where they see value.

I would venture to say that Temasek' s performance is far better than most participantrs in this forum. How many of us are making money like Temasek this year (2020)???

Their 30% in US stocks should have done amazingly well (S& P500 from 31st March' s 2300 to the current 3200)
Their 25% in China stocks should have done equally well. (Shanghai composite from 31st March' s 2750 to the current 3220)
Their 24% in Spore stocks (STI from 31st March' s 2300 to the current 2450)

The " Temasekians" should be getting good bonuses if things don' t change much by 31st March 2021.

1) im not bothered by status of ?Elite Trader?. Doesnt worth any money but im sure it is more valuable than your SMM shares given that i will not have paper loss nor will this forum ask me for money which SMM likely to do next round of charity fund raising.

2) TH owing the shares doesnt mean anything. Backing can be withdrawn. TH used to own NOL and it can turned around and gave up.

3) Fyi, TH used to invest in Hyflux. What happen to Hyflux?

4) TH withdraw offer to keppel. This shows things changes. Just like theres no permanent enemies or friends, there is also no permanent backing

U are just talking nonsense. Suck kind of words should not come from an Elite trader like your goodself. Suggest you drop the Elite status. How can sembmarine become a blank sheet of paper. How can they call another rights after the big exercise. You think TH can allow SCM to become a blank sheet? Think before you made such comments. I own SCM shares from the spin off.

He is referring to 6 shares = 0.9 Anyway bottom line smm has to deliver something in the next few months to a year. Otherwise it is really bad.

Bro you wish ! 90cents is not possible anymore .. Best case if scm can trade at 1.0x book value good enough.. which is over 40c

That's an argument I can accept. From pov of an investor. Was thinking about the traders. There have been a lot of shorts. And I think if I look at the sh % after the rights it seems quite a few major sh didn't take up their rights? Or they have been trimming their positions. But I don't really have the pre and post number of those sh just from my memory.

shadow11      ( Date: 26-Sep-2020 11:05) Posted:

Now smm is a stand-alone Coy with the backing of TH.
So investor still value the same rite.

Prior to rights about 90c

For 1 share they give u 5 rights share. Total is 6
After rights 0.15 share price *6 which is 90c

About same.

bystander1965      ( Date: 26-Sep-2020 10:58) Posted:

I have been wondering there had been quite a bit of shorts of sci prior to the demerger. All these shorts would have to deliver 4.911 smm for every sci shorted? But since the demerger the equivalent sci+smm have been trading above $2. Does that mean the shortlists lost quite a bit. Is that why smm is continuously shorted down so that the equivalent smm+sci is below 1.9 or 1.8 or whatever so that they could recover? Just wondering how this works.
