On the power front, Sembcorp Industries is noted for running the grid that powers much of Singapore?s data center ecosystem. With a whopping 33% share of energy provision to local data centers, it counts key clients including Singtel and Equinix. AI overview: South East Asia and East Asia's demand for AI usage and quick adoption of AI technologies leading to booming demand of data centres power demand, especially India and China has occurred significantly, thus straining much the power grids since Aug 2025. (Note: it is worth looking at high yield dividend stocks like SCI with 4.3% yield given its current market price and SCI will definitely grow energy renewables capacity to 25 GW by 2028 from 18 GW now. 18 GW is expected to reach almost full utilisation by 2027) |

Alinta Energy is not the only target in the sights of Sembcorp, the $S10.4 billion ($12.2 billion) Singapore-listed energy producer that?s stormed onto Australia?s dealmaking circuit as it looks for a local beachhead.
More shorting shares at lower price, then great opportunity to accumulate more.

Market scare Sembcorp overpaid and suffer indigestion. GLCs has the tendency to overpaid. See DBS and Singtel in 2001.
Damn cui
I heard that Sembcorp engaged Goldman Sachs as M&A advisor and is currently pursuing Alinta. Good luck to big retail investors!

Thank for sharing what CEO already hinted about M&A. Merger is most likely. It will typically call for high valuation with Sembcorp retaining its name on SGX. The synergies gives an competitive and market advantage, high cost saving from consolidation of manpower, etc. and are in expansion mode. Additionally SCI will likely list India operation so that they are able to fund US$10.4 billion takeover/merger.

CEO already hinted during post-results briefing that they are on the prowl for M& As which could contribute significantly to its profits. As well as listing of its India operations. But i guess very few paid attention as all busy liquidating SCI and deploying to lower-cap stocks to make a quick profit. Very soon, they will be back, chasing after  SCI at elevated prices.
