thanks. so everything is planned way way back in 2019

Dont think it will. TM will use its influence to remove unwanted competition in a space between 2 companies both of which they are majority shareholder. In late 2019 they had made a bid to take upto 50% of keppel. Now that Sembcorp will be theres any such merger is far more possible.

| Ok don't want to sound like the prophet of doom. But here are a few things to clarify that may help.
Sembcorp as you rightly said was bleeding money and part of that would also.including servicing debt. Including a 1.5 billion loan from Sembcorp Industries. The positive is that the debt of 1.5 billion is completely wiped out by this deal so lower financing costs but that wont save this ship with a whole.
That said dont abandon this share. Every dog has its Day and its day is coming in or after october.
1) Sembcorp marine is a Short term investment that can yield upto 33% retuens through the rights issue. The percentage depends on where you are going to enter the share..eg entry at 0.50 = ( 0.50 + ( 5 x 0.2 ) ) / 6 = Avg price $ 0.25 sellnat TERP 0.30 = 20% So this is a buy under maybe $0.60 and gets more profitable as it declines.
2) TM now will be a major holder in this new Sembcorp Marine. And as they dont want to lose money they will probably try and consolidate and merge Sembcorp Marine with Keppel. And that could be a winner for shareholders.
The comparison with SIA is to see how prices move around a rights issue. Apart from that this has nothing to do with SI |

past few days , the surge in marine price , I think market, mostly think that SCI will merge or "buy" SMM.
but this twist becomes a negative for SMM shareholders..
the twist also tells slot of story.
but Keppel has an announcement today. will that affect?

To get the 20c SMM rights share... buying from open market will have a cost adding 20c

sure got buyer one lar, maybe enticed by the attractive rights prices
and in the long run, after the set off of 1.5B debts, smm will be in a nice position to the road of recovery
but for sure i wont be buying tomorrow, unless it drops to 10 cts lol
