Now, you can see what is happening... Only large caps were moving higher. Other moved a little or flat. So, mosdt probably funds were re-balancing their portfolio only and thus, pushed up the sicko STI index.

In order to let you have clearer picture what is happening in the market, Panda went to SGX website and snap=shot these indices for sharing here. Now, you can see what is happening... Only large caps were moving higher. Other moved a little or flat. So, mosdt probably funds were re-balancing their portfolio only and thus, pushed up the sicko STI index.

Wht must be Thursday? Oh.... Panda checked the calendar, Thursday is the last day of Sept. 

Sis, funds trading size is much more than average retal players. They are not like us, can buy or sell our stocks easily in the market everyday. They need time to accumulate or distribute their shares, not within a day or overnight. So, funds would do it early so that they have enough time to complete this job. Therefore,  funds do not just buy or sell  on the last day but they may trade a lot on the late day if the need to meet the target of  re-balancing their portfolio because they could not  buy or sell enough few day before the  end of quarterly month.
