Frankly speaking, I dont know. I also dont know why Hock Lian Seng and TTJ dorms leases were not renewed. I am just speculating govt has some ideas to run it themselves. Perhaps all foreign workers have to stay in designated workers dorms run by JTC or some govt agencies? If Singapore were to have 10 mio population, then this dorm biz can be very substantial.

What would be the reason for non renewal and You thinking that it won't be renewed? May I politely ask?

I dont have any positions in this stock, other than trying to put out the facts for everybody to see. After April 2017 decision on the Westlite Tuas workers dorm renewal, and after watching the market impact, can one then decide what is the best entry point, if one so desires to invest.

Seems like there is a lot of you folks who are stucked here based on your negativities.
Now seems it's a good entry price. Furthermore it's on uptrend. Paying dividends. Venturing in the right path. My thoughts. We will be vesting |

Share price rebounded.....
To borrow a quote from Warren Buffett:
When a management with a reputation for brilliance tackles a business with a reputation for bad economics, it is the reputation of the business that remains intact.
Low profitability business.

Centurion can go into business that others are doing now as long as as it has the nich and expertise...different people do things differently....that' s why some companies making losses and some making tons of money doing the same thing but just do it differently. Others failed does not mean that this company will fail also.....lol...

That showed the board is serious with business to make more profits for shareholders and themselves as well....if the CEO does not perform, there' s no reason why to keep them after giving sufficient time and resources etc....

Some time ago, the CEO was kicked out of the board of directors. I dont know what is the reason. Perhaps business strategy too slow for Han and Loh taste.

But total debt more than SGD 660 million !
For the full year 2016, Centurion' s net profit slipped 16 per cent from a year ago to S$28.7 million despite a 15 per cent growth in revenue to S$120.3 million. Its balance sheet remains healthy with S$82.5 million of cash and bank balances. Centurion said it would " carefully balance between acquiring operating assets that will contribute to current income, and investing in development projects for sustained future growth" to ensure sustainable growth in the long run.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Revenue is up and making profit with lots of cash and still give dividends...really dont understand why people want to throw the shares...it' s time to accumulate more now...

Govt should make decision base on supply and demand and should not be unfair towards business communities as what you claimed to be....as Singapore economy was affected by slow down in O & M, construction and manufacturing sectors in the past 2 years or so, the demands for foreign workers were affected and so the dorms....that' s why Centurion is going into nursing home loh...

You can go ask government.
Both TTJ (5,000 beds), and Hock Lian Seng (3,000 beds) also not renewed. Centurion Westlite Tuas is 8,600 beds. If not renewed, the impact will be quite huge for its bottom line.
I think government not happy with the way the dorms are run. It might have some other ideas how to do it properly.
