I would rather wait for ocbc to reach $9 or even $8 and buy direct instead of subscribe to the right.

Your ocbc rights are stored in your Cdp account. Just trade the amount of OCBC R shares that is reflected in your Cdp account via your brokerage account. Once trade your broker will pull from your Cdp account.

I' m new to rights issue so pardon me for my queries.

I currently have 1,000 shares and entitled to 125 shares. I intend to purchase 3 lots of OCBC R125 to make a total shareholding of 1500 shares. This is because with the new 100 shares-lot in Jan 2015, I will not end up having to trade in the odd-lot market. Nonetheless, I have a few questions:
  1. I noticed that the rights are trading at very low volume. Why?
  2. Is it certain that with the rights, I will be able to convert all of it to the mother share at $7.65? i.e., can I be sure that my 500 rights will be converted to the mother share at S$7.65?
  3. What happens if I forget to exercise my rights?  How and when am I able to exercise my rights?

Thanks in advance!
