Your GE prediction was spot on , Fataba .
Profit was down 30% or some 300m no small matter, and the market reacted accordingly .
Nonetheless , I still think the 6b full year profit can be attained . No stats to back up my claim , just my hunch after seeing DBS' s results .
Tommorow morning its UOB' s turn followed by OCBC this Friday .

Thank you. Your reply is very reassuring.
I put a queue for   a small small amount 1500 shares at 12.8 I think I will get it!
GE result is not very good .....still profitable but drop 30% or so ( detail pls check SGX website)
As OCBC owns GE . it nett total might come in lower .......BUT looking at the total , I think OCBC would give a special or increase its payout from current 28c
Keeping finger cross till Friday morning result

Does anyone know why the sudden big drop in OCBC share price when both UOB/DBS are going up? Thanks
OCBC last did a stock split in 2005 and currently has 4.49b shares outstanding .
At last done price of 13.13 , its market cap is currently 58.9b .
UOB shares outstanding is 1.67b with a market cap of 51.7b based on share price of 30.98.
DBS is the biggest bank with 2.59b shares outstanding , market cap of 90.7b .

Saw a post once that explained why OCBC price lags so far behind UOB & DBS.
Seems OCBC split its shares once or twice and has a huge share float compared to the other 2.
I think all 3 banks are no longer local. They have all been expanding into regional countries.

OCBC is a well managed bank with integrity. Biggest problem for OCBC is announcement of extent of ADANI lending exposure and will only be revealed once the results are announced - I think should be ok but not nothing - let us see
Same here I have been accumulating this stock since 2011 and has never sold any . Dividends received are re-invested .
In the 12 yrs that i held , dividens has increased steadily from 30 cents to  53 cents ( FY 21 ),  with an expectation of 60 cents minimum for FY 22 . The  corresponding share price increase during this period is $7 to $13 . The average dividen yield ( dividen against share price )  is around 4% , the average dividen growth is around 7% pa over the last 12 years  ( increase in dividen payout over time ) , and the stock price growth over the last 20 years is around 6% per annum .
It may not necessarily be the best stock in SGX but at least it is less volatile . My only gripe is the dividen payout ratio lacks behind the other 2 banks at around 43% to 50% , whereas the other 2 pays out 50% consistently .
In terms of valuation OCBC has been trading at a cheap price of 1 to 1.1 P/BV  and PE ratio of 9 to 11 recently . Not a smart decision to sell at this point .
DBS has already announced stellar results and dividens lets hope UOB announce the same on the 23rd and hopefully this can compel OCBC to do the same come Feb 24th .

Well, nothing stopping them from paying out a fat special dividend, like what DBS has done, and UOB may or could do.  If so, the dividend yield will be higher than 4.5%.  Significantly so, hopefully.  For many of us dividend investors, the dividend matters more than share prices, as that is just paper profits.  And we are not going to sell, even if it hits $14 or $15, I think.

Buddy,
Never say Never.
Asked OUB back then would they think they would be acquired by UOB?
A 5million population on 700 sq km piece of rock, do we need 3 x local banks?
We can consolidate further to have muscle mass to compete with others.
My 2 cts & day dreams
Honestly, I could only afford OCBC then else probably would have bought UOB too.

A matter of when.
I always feel why should OCBC play second fiddle to UOB when by assets they are larger than UOB?
Given Singapore market, I was told by my seniors (some years back) that we can only have 2 local banks. Since then I had this wish for UOB & OCBC to merge and we can call it " United Overseas Chinese Bank" .
Bought into OCBC for its GEL (crown jewel imo) and its share price is something I can afford then. Quietly confident we will be rewarded for our patience.
Vested. Holding tighly my 2.5 lots @ avg $8.96
