The Competition Commission of Singapore has approved the proposed strategic alliance with Air New Zealand, paving the way for Air New Zealand to fly the Auckland-Singapore route again, and for SIA to operate the Airbus A380 to New Zealand for the first time. The proposed alliance remains subject to approval from the New Zealand Minister of Transport.

IATA stated premium travel is slowing again! Business Times (Friday). Singtel jumped ship and now SQ taking over as sponsor! I wished they had announced a special dividend instead. Another hole to plug!! Sigh! Was thinking of getting back in but after this i think not.

My view is that foreign money is flowing in. Big boys are parking their money in blue chips getting ready for volatility ahead. Fundamentals don' t support price action. Tata venture pshhh....... wont see profits anytime soon. In fact will cost $$   to get if off the ground.

Singapore Airlines to fly A380 to India from May 30
Singapore Airlines will operate Airbus A380 aircraft to Delhi and Mumbai cities from May 30, it said on Monday, becoming the first carrier to fly the superjumbos into India after a ban was lifted.

Emirates and Lufthansa were also interested in operating A380s in India on various international routes, the Indian government said in January, while lifting the ban.

Agree but i see downside risk near term. Third quarter is what im betting on.  IATA projects airlines will do well this year and next. SIA cash position is good only because they buy their planes outright but air travel has yet to pick up. Numbers not improving by much.  The business class travellers have not yet returned. Companies are still choosing to fly their staff economy.JMHO. Tha' s why i cashed out at 10.49. Sia has been buying back shares most recently last week.  I was wandering about the upswing. Now i know. Check SGX.

Tiger is doing right thing. trimming loss making JV' s. Pillai should steer company in the right direction. Am a buyer on dips. Many will choose to fly Sing airlines rather than malyasian ones judging by the debacle of MH370. As always DYODD

As Singapore-based carriers embarked on aggressive fleet expansion in recent years, SIA&rsquo s profitability had been considerably pressured. The good news is Singapore-based carriers are keenly aware of the supply glut and are taking steps to scale back their expansions plans. Qantas will pause its Jetstar Asia fleet growth plans, while Tigerair S&rsquo pore&rsquo s decision to cancel 9 aircraft due for delivery in 2014/15 should reduce capacity growth by 3.5%. Maybank KE forecasts sustained EPS growth over the next 3 years at 51% CAGR, and expects the stock to rally off its depressed valuations. Downside risk is limited given its near trough current valuations and SIA&rdquo s solid net cash position ($3.50/share). Maybank KE upgrades to Buy with higher TP of $12.00 from $10.00
