Oil & gas corrupted. Rights issue needed to pay fines. Dont worry. No senior pple will be accountable or jailed 😜

Only shareholders screwed.

The company has already guided that a strategic review is in process. As with any companies that had just undergone a major merger / acquisition, let' s be patient. Better that they work out the best way forward which may take slightly more time in the near term than to hastily rush something out that comes at shareholders' expense in the long-term.

Yes, SM, KC & SCI the sky is the limit! SM particularly will shine out soon awaiting announcement from CEO .

SM is part of Singapore strategic industries that should not and cannot fail due to obvious reasons. With higher oil price will come with higher orders for oil rigs, and with ESG, more investment in renewal energy in wind power etc. will have more potential orders for offshore wind farms etc.

SM is now at the right place at the right time, with the new management comes with high expectations. With the connections that SM has with KC and Sembcorp industry, the sky is the limit !!!

Your "They" refers to the previous management right? New management just took over. Give them time lah. Big things got small beginnings. 🌱 ✨

They have to keep winning orders and able to execute them profitabily. If not, it is back to losses again.

The key risk is that they have not shown the ability to execute the projects profitability. Forecast of 5% or 10% net profit margin is still a bit premature.

Let see.

Interesting input from both ..and certainly at least here are base on argument of what figure to use ....etc
THERE IS only one more point ....business is NOT static and within next 3 years chances of winning MORE orders are far higher then losing some
So how many more $B of order is SM going to have and this certainly is tough to estimate. ....
sit back , relax and awaiting the new CEO to drive SM back into profitability by end 2023 .
Happy investing,

Your profit margin is a bit too low, let say we use 10% profit margin and the total profit of $0.76B/68B shares = $0.0112 EPS

The share price to justify for this would be $0.0112/5% FD = $0.224 per share. It would be higher if using lower FD rate of 4% or lower. The reason to use FD rate is based on the dividend that I would get if the money is parked under FD or CPF rather than in the share.

zhixuen      ( Date: 22-Mar-2023 15:01) Posted:

Your calculation is taking into consideration of 20% margin that it is hypothetically optimistic  prediction.
20% does not make sense in current business environment. Why did you use 5% FD in the fraction of $0.0176 earning per share?
I' m more conservation, presuming 18 billions awarded project delivered for next 3 years. Profit margin 5%
18/3 = 6 billions X 0.05 = 300 millions profit that come from new building, convertion and specilized shipbuilding.
For ship repair I referenced to recent business update where SCM (500 millions) + KOM (assume 500 millions)  with 1 billions revenue X 0.08 (ship repair usually may see higher margin) = 80 millions.

Total Profit = 380 millions / 68 billions share. = 0.056 EPS.

Assume PE = 10 for ship building and repair business. = fair value should be $0.56 if business does good as what described in the above forecast.
