when the new shares from right issues are credited into investment accounts, there should be a wave of selling if share price is good say $4.
' profit' is 1000$ per 1000shares.
so barring unforeseen black swan , i think the up side should be limited.

Look at the terms carefully, that not consider " bail out" .

Yeah.. we all common sg alway have to bail them, direct or indirectly.. but we never benefited.. since SARs, Did they learn? I don?t think so..And I highly doubt they ever will..
Even till now, did they do what is needed as to save a company? Hmmm....

i mean even if SIA makes huge losses, PAP + Temasek will come to rescue.. it' s already mentioned that airline is now as important as airport so PAP will back them up..
so if the government is backing SIA up, EVERYONE including siggies + PR + foreign talents + bangla foreign workers who pay taxes are indirectly backing SIA up

If only its so easy, its already impossible to short sell SIA since many days ago, SBL no shares to borrow and CFD is long only, the arbitrageurs have this locked up watertight.

Those who bought Right probably with a low cost between $3.4x to 3.55 could consider taking profit using CFD from now until 5 Jun, while the main share is now still much higher than the buying cost. This premium will not sustain until 8 Jun, when all hell break lose: flooded with 3 times outstanding shares.
After SIA, just guess which STI counters will go for fundraising using Right issue?

Agreed. for now Shortlist cannot make money easy as BBs or Temasek already locked up all the short CFD. If one sell or short naked , you are forced to cover end of day . Naked sell position exposed is like playing poker with BBs.with your cards open.
Those wishing to buy above this price are few as they would have bought the rights last few days. Others wishing to buy are only those who waiting to buy at lower prices and definately not at $4.
So unless the COVID scene changes overnite, SIA til 8 june is just alot of bear traps. Quick spike in price to draw the bear in and toasting them end of day |

Share price already diluted by -20% on May 6(ex-right date). It should not have further dilute. From now, price will impact by market outlook.

My thoughts
Buyers and investors should sit tight and wait for the share to be diluted and the billions of rights money successfully completed before buying. What is the hurry? the covid is not going away in 2 weeks.
Sellers tempted to short should be careful as the BB and Temasek are watching like a hawk. they will want to punish Shortist as the SIA rights will fail is shares dropped below $3. Plenty of bear traps are laid every day. But having say that Temasek will not want to buy any more shares than what she already overcommited.
1. Short only when price spike up
2. Do not chase a falling price. likely you will be squeezed at end of day.

Never rule out phase 1 of trade is cancelled. If trump knows he cant save economy, he target an external ctry. Malaysia also like to target sg whenever it has internal problems. Always bring up water issue

Anyone know the procedure on going about applying for excess SIA rights and what it means? Does it mean we can try to buy the stock at $3 given SIA approves our application for excess rights? And when will results of the excess rights application be announced?
