There is report that Trump will be meeting Liu He in this coming Trade Talk....... given Trump' s character, he will want a good positive show.  So the statement post Trade Talk is likely going to be positive in tone......IMO, DYODD.

https://www.cnbc.com/2019/01/28/loans-growth-in-china-property-market-slowed-further-in-2018.html

China' s real estate loan growth slows further in 2018

  • Outstanding yuan property loans grew 20 percent from a year earlier to 38.7 trillion yuan ($5.72 trillion) by the end of December, compared with 20.9 percent growth in 2017, the People' s Bank of China (PBOC) said in a quarterly financial report.
  • Outstanding mortgage lending climbed 17.8 percent year-on-year to 25.75 trillion yuan by the end of 2018, below a 22.2 percent rise in 2017, the data showed.
  • The real estate sector is a key driver of economic growth, so any further weakness could influence the pace and scope of fresh stimulus steps expected from Beijing this year.

China' s slowing economy will make it harder for its companies to pay debts, ratings agencies say

  • China' s slowing economy means companies will find it harder to pay their debts, S& P Global Ratings says.
  • " The economic chill in China is spreading, threatening to weaken profitability across nearly all sectors in corporate China," the agency says in a report.
  • Moody' s Investors Service says that increased credit for private companies promised by the government is unlikely to reach those companies that need it most.

With a slow down in economic activities in China and Singapore, is it still possible to have positive new loan growth?  If possible, whose portion of the pies are they eating into and How?

In december 2018, market overshoot in correction, now it seems that market is overshooting on positivity.  It' s like they already priced in a significant positive outcome for the 30-31 Jan 2019 US-China Trade Talk.

With the dimned economic reports recently coming out of China (where our banks have significant exposure of 20+% to 40+%) and Davos........banks should see the beginning of some slowdown in their Q4 reports out in Feb 2019.....IMO, DYODD.

Time to plan for the possible outcome of the US China Trade Talk.

IMO, this trade talk will not have any significant break through and the outcome is likely to be below market expectation, this might not be so obvious in the beginning as currently many investors are still in the " feel good mood" .

1) So at best a knee jerk up then correction or
2) Correction after the statement from the Trade Talk is release

https://www.cnbc.com/2019/01/09/apple-reportedly-planning-to-cut-iphone-production-report-says.html

Apple is reportedly cutting iPhone production by 10 percent between January and March

  • Apple is cutting down its current production plans for new iPhones by about 10 percent for the next three months, the Nikkei Asian Review reported on Wednesday.
  • The tech giant told its suppliers in December to produce fewer of the new iPhones than what was planned for the March quarter, the Nikkei said, citing sources with knowledge of Apple' s request.
  • Last week, Apple slashed its guidance on revenue, partly blaming the revision on a weakening economy in China and lower-than-expected iPhone revenue in the Greater China region.
