I heard those PHV cars have extremely high mileage, 100+ thousands of km. Wonder if still got warranty or not since most passenger car warranties cover 3 years or 100,000 km.

Maybe best comfort tookover the lcr and sell all cars at 94k each ( 2nd hand toyota prius selling at 105k) and locked in 100%.profit?? Lol. But i prefer they convert some to replace their sonata taxi....bal still keep as phv. ....daily phv rental around $76...taxi $126 b4 gst.

I think the only winners in this deal are the passengers. Uber with its newly acquired SGD 300mil warchest, can afford to fight Grab with discounts until autonomous vehicles becomes mainstream. They are smart to get rid of half of LCR before all that happens.

Pardon my ignorance but with this alliance, the market share of comfortdelgro increases (since it bought some of lcr). But with demand probably remaining the same, how would current cdg drivers benefit much given that the uber drivers are gonna remain on the road. This can benefit from my opinion if the 2 can get more market share from grab. (The deal looks like cdg buying a bigger pie, but the number of people in the family eating the pie increases as well. The pie isnt cheap for the family's financial point of view and only way they can eat more is to steal the neighbour's or find a new way to make more pie)

LCR' s latest promotion to entice drivers: Free car rental for  the initial  number of months and thereafter at very competitive rental rates.

You tell me lah desperate or not? Fortunately for LCR  Comfort  comes along as  Santa Claus.

I think Comfort' s almighty advisors who sit in the Ivory Tower are not aware of what is going on, on  the ground.

SGD 300mil, can do special dividend distribution to shareholders, 15 cents a share. Now have to help Uber tank a war of attrition against Grab, how much, ultimately, is still an uncertainty.

Without this SGD 300mil, Uber might decide to exit the Singapore market and Grab might scale back its cash burning exercises thus bringing balance to the market. But with this 300 mil warchest courtesy of CDG, and the albatross of LCR around its neck lightened considerably, Uber will be staying to fight the fight for longer and harder.

Look at it this way, in the past, Uber and Grab competes with ComfortDelGro. Now, ComfortDelGro has a 51% controlling stake over Uber LCR. In any businesses, if you can control your competitor you will have the edge.

But Im not sure about this, market seems not to favour this move, perhaps due to the bad vibes about LCR. All this should already have already been priced in during the past week.

So, what we are expecting is short term it will dip, Long term it should take off, after ironing out the problems at LCR.

Im not vested(yet), but wish you guys Good Luck.

But its the drivers' perceived increase in income thats gonna stop them from leaving. Or unless the rental drops, which makes the deal redundant

If you ask me, this deal is benefiting more to CDG than to its drivers. Hopefully CDG will be kinder to its drivers and lower the rental more.

Even if tomorrow Uber is out of Singapore due to scandal or bankruptcy, it does affect CDG at all, CDG only bus the cars and ways to manage the fleet, Uber apps comes with a bonus.

One more thing, the 12,000 PHVs drivers of Uber can now buy petrol at CDG island side petrol kiosks, this will definitely increase the revenue of the fuel sales to CDG. Fuel sales of CDG has consistently gone down since start of this year when taxi fleet decreased.

Bro, please read the news released by CDG. It buys only the rented out lcr cars, not the idle lcr cars, only later date when the utilization good up then CDG will consider buying more, you think CDG so did too but lcr idle cars? At ?47k/car, if one day CDG can't rent them out, it auction at open market, how much do you think a 3 year old car can fetch? I will buy it at $47, even $57k I'll buy it. As pointed out by one bro just now, CDG can easily sell the acquired cars at a hefty profit. $47k, you got rid lobang or not? To CDG, Uber's platform comes FOC! I also cannot explain why the sharp do in price before the news release, this part rely puzzle me...

Many many positive in the deal everyone only think of taxi gone case profit drop do not forget comfort have many business DTL NEL LRT BUS and Vicom

1- LCR 14000 car sure give business to vicom
2-Uber is fighting side by side with comfort to compete with grab now less 1 enemy
3-Grab is a burning money company Comfort can afford to earn less better than burn cash look at how much cash flow they have they dun want to join in the cash burning game
4-If you a grab regular customer the promo code you receive still as better as the past? Customer will choose and know where is the best deal when more passenger ditch grab what happen ? driver jump shop again to Uber or comfort simple

5- yes more taxi are return but they long ago have cover the cost they only need 3 years to cover back a brand new i40 rental is around $110 per day x 30 days a month and 36 months $118800 that?s around the car price and parking is free at comfort Hq so big dun need waste parking fee

6- before this deal was comfirm everyone say comfort will give in or this deal will be off see in the end comfort took up 51% so looks like Uber need comfort more than comfort needs them
