At current price, there is little " meat" to short.
Read into the co report, it will do well (to be confirmed with results) in future. 
Should have bought its way up instead.

big number of shorts.
there is no adverse news , so not likely to be short and distort. 
possible some gambling shorts. but such big number.
more like short to move up the price.  the higher the number of shorts the bigger the price move will be when the shorts cover. so it all depends on who shorted. if the one who want price up shorted, he has accumulated potential energy to move price up. by each short covering the price will move.
