That is what the broad market expects....if there is a fire sale coming, why Buy now, right?
But remember, many big houses will be there as well. Many are waiting.....but how many can beat the market? Also not forgetting SSH55% would most likely be at the battlefield as well.

Is SIA going to take off today also?  |

US airlines have domestic flights. Once they opened up, these flights can resume.
Did you see the whole cabins are full of passengers? Quite scary.
As for SIA, she has no domestic flights. Now she can only bet that KQ can negotiate a deal with 4 countries for international flights with controlled measures in place.

If I own sia shares before 5 may, can I apply for excess?
TheDuellist ( Date: 26-May-2020 23:20) Posted:
If you did not own any original SIA shares before XR (Ex Rights), you will not be allowed to apply excess. That means if you buy Rights from the market, you cannot ask for excess.
Not sure about those non-custodian shares, eg: shares bought using CPF. This group really sad cases, shares bought using life-savings ended up severely diluted |

| It doesn't make sense to waste your SIA R. People should have sold away their SIA R by end of of 21 May if they do not intend to exercise it and converted to SIA shares by paying $3 on top of each SIA R. Its last traded price at $0.55, they still be fine if the SIA stock price is trading above $3.55 😊 |

Cannot fail doesnt mean share price will go up. Look at the budget. Saving of jobs. Rebates.

When people talk long term, how long is long.
Similar case study: Capitaland was $8++ before 2008. Then price collapsed to $2.5+ and they issued rights issue of 1 for 2 shares owed at discount of 45% (sounds very familiar right?)
What is price now? Despite reporting decent profits for past several yrs
SIA is not is a good situation with no domestic routes. Many countries like China, Thailand, Vietnam, ... are promoting domestic travels now to support their own economy. Don't think many tourists will come over to SG in 2020.
NAV.....how do you calculate all aircrafts value that is parked in the Australia deserts gathering dust?  Even if the covid goes away,  SIA will be the last to fly as she has no domestic routes to warm up.
International travel will only comes about after own countries like US, China and EU are confident flying their own domestic cities first.  Try competing with Delta or Lufthansia pilots after things normalised . You have SIA pilots sleeping 6 months while others are flying.  They cant even remember the airport code for christ sake!!!  No joke
Longtermer ( Date: 26-May-2020 15:37) Posted:
Decide to enter SIA today at $3.60.
NAV before rights issue was $10.20.
After rights, it went down to about $5.80.
Current price is about 40% off its book value and sound like a GSS
After fund raising, the company balance sheet will allow the company not only to ride the storm, but to position for unprecedented opportunities likely to be presented and capture market.  Cheers. |
