Simple point had grab driver incentive reduce ? Do you find lesser promo code from grab why?
Will be excited to see how to market react will
CDG rocket or Fall let?s see but over all a lot of bad comment but ask urself .those point you think CDG dun know ? They sure have a plan and not so dumb to buy over a lose $ deal .For sure is a win win for Uber and CDG with support from CDG Uber now can go full war with grab .What Grab can do is burn more money CDG and Uber will not join in the money burning game when grab have lesser promo and incentive for driver see passenger and driver will jump over to where .All CDG have to do is wait
CDG only has one substantial shareholder (> 5%) and that is Black Rock. Anyway, why would Grab want to buy CDG? Grab did' t even want SMRT' s taxis when the latter offered earlier in the year.

No way will grab able to buy CDG that?s for sure .Most share are hold by CDG board and some are under GOV they will not let this happen

After CDG merge with Uber.
Very likely Grab will look for opportunity monitoring for the CDG stock pricing, If its too low or reasonable.
Will Grab stop promo and make a big deal for take over CDG 100%.
Very high possibility and fully control on Singapore TAXI transportation.
I believe CDG should aware or are they trying to push their pricing up with this excercise with motive ? |

Means the market prices Grab services 2x better than Uber' s? Based on the fares alone, who wants to drive for Uber when Grab is paying you x2? Looks like this battle between Grab and Uber/CDG is going to be a major cash burning exercise.
That said, I wonder if Uber is restrained from opening another car leasing company. If 2 years later, autonomous lvl 5 cars become available, will Uber be able to form an autonomous fleet without CDG' s participation?

Hi,
Just to share my experience of using Grab and Comfortdelgro services from the same destination, Timbre at Ayah Rajah back to Choa Chu Kang midnight, last night and one week ago.  Using Grab, the price was fixed at $21 and for Comfortdelgro, although incurred midnight charges as well, the whole trip cost me $17.85 to my surprise.  Grab may be good for conjestion as the price has already been fixed while Comfordelgro still has the possibility of going lower than the Grab if the road condition is smooth.
I have been trying to use the Grab credit card promo code but so far no luck as it subjects to redemption.  To me, the biggest rival of the Comfortdelgro is the Grab.  Thus whenever the share of Comfortdelgro shares price falls, not only the shortists but also the biggest rival as well!  Once the Comfortdelgro teams up with the UBER, not only it can expand its market share but also tap its one service provider potential to the fullest like the spare parts providing and rountine maintenance.
Going forward, if the UBER did go as planned and push for IPO at Nasdaq and/or Dow Jones, what will be the gains for Comfortdelgro?  Will it get its shares let' s say 3-5% of the biggest worldwide private car hirer?    How much will it be?  Can the Comfortdelgro tap on the platform and become the worldwide taxi provider as well?
This is just how I see the alliance from the macro perspective.  It can be right or wrong.  Now we have to wait for more details to decide how it will turn out but I am sure it will not be another Noble tragedy!  Every company has its challenges right now like the SIA, SPH,  Capitalmall trust but that doesn' t mean the game is over but gearing up for the new economy!    Happy investing! |

My exact thoughts too.
It' s a disastrous acquisition and waste of shareholders money.
Not it only that, my main concern is the transfer of LCR debt onto CDG' s balance sheet. Knn paid $295m to have more debt on depreciating liabilities.
Really 赔 了 夫 人 又 折 兵
anonymoustrader ( Date: 10-Dec-2017 09:33) Posted:
The 295m is for 51% of NAV for the 12,450 cars which is 51% of 642m (about 327m). Is it really that much of a steal?
"A car rental firm boss who didn?t rent out to Uber / Grab drivers told me that he would not buy any of these cars simply because of maintenance issues: while these cars are technically one to two years old, their mileage is crazily high, almost that of a ten-year-old car."
Sure it does contribute to the engineering arm, even if $1000 per year for 14,000 cars, you need over 20 years to recoup your investment.? Sure it may help reduce driver outflow and maybe increase taxi rental, but it really depends if Uber can fight with grab(so far uber not really doing a good job). To make it worst, the remaining taxi companies got the same deal uber offered without paying a single cent. Just expressing my concerns thanks

$300m can buy how many prius from toyota with coe??
Current remain comfort drivers just wan more jobs orelse.pls cut rental..if reallybo choice..jump...that why silver cab growing.. so comfort choose to join uber rather than grab why??
1) uber got.0 taxi and yet grab got.10k taxi
2) all know uber esp those outisde southeast asia...dont be surprise..lots of india and angmo are using uber in sg rather then grab...
3) most taxi drivers dont like.10% or 20% comm per call..they dont mind pay 60c per jobs
4) uber dont let drivers know where the destination b4 booking..so successful rate higher..better for us
5)comfort lost a lots of.corporate clients due to phv...with phv...comfort may able to get back some.of them
6)now only left 1.competitor.to fight..grab.. lol

No, CDG is a public listed company. Some insitutional shareholders (whom I don' t know) but majority are retail shareholders.

After wasting their precious bullets of 300m on LCR, CDG won' t be able to make significant   future acquisitions without fund raising like rights issue.
Also the dividends policy is now at stake due to much lower cash reserves in the kitty.
As as a shareholder I' m damn pissed that CDG' s management is so shortsighted. How could they waste our precious cash reserves on depreciating assets that have such short lifespans. Also we have not considered the liability that will be written on CDG' s books. There' s no way LCR cars are fully paid up. CDG just paid so much money to have more debt written on their balance sheet. It' s a double whammy. Reduce cash reserves and gearing goes up. Ridiculous.
Like many have mentioned, if they wanted the app so much, they could have tied up with grab and uber without paying a single cent like other taxi companies. But now they not only have to pay 295m, they also inherited a load of depreciating liabilities.
if grab now comes up with new incentives to entice uber drivers, what next for CDG? Offer more promos and take more losses n suck thumb???
What a dumb deal by CDG |

If the car conditions are better, can pump discounted petrol, less accident repair excess, faster turn around time in repair (all these are within the capability of CDG), then I think the take-up rate will be better,
edwinjup ( Date: 10-Dec-2017 12:33) Posted:
| Dont think comfort will reduce phv car rental...current $76 daily and uber will give rebate if hit some target....may even increase if the take up rate increase as they provide better servicing |

What they do to their drivers now is....convert sonota $90 to $126. Toyota prius ...if u wan new car..sign 1 yr bond...old i40..$8 rebate...

PHV is here to stay. They are here to complement Taxi services. CDG objective is to dominate the market. They must have both.
Dont rule out CDG buying into a controlling stake in Grab in future. Of course the paying public will not   welcome the idea.
Just a recap: CDG is formed with the merger of Comfort, Citycab, Singapore Airport Bus Sevices, SBS taxi, Singapore Commuters |

| Shareholders should be questioning why they' re paying such a high price for a car rental company. Hard to see the rationale for them to buy LCR in the first place when they already have taxis idle.  |
