We all know that hedgeing is a double-edged sword. Do they hedge sugar prices as well?

Yes, I hv vested interest in Delfi too as i opined  it' s still on growth path.
They are improving the quality of their products and also able to
generate increasing revenue and giving out generous dividend.

even though i' m not active in that thread.

Jus to sharing my AEM investment journey.
Bght ard 0.9+ couple years bk and every analyst calling for Buy and raising target price . If i had ignored them, my investment return wl not be as high as $4+ when I sold.
So, moral of the story is u need to know what u are buying/investing and let time do the talking
Cheers

As saying goes :
Read the analysts rpt with pinch of salt
Whether it make sense or any truth in it, boils down to individual experience and discretion.
For me, Delfi is still.on growth path amid rising costs.

Whenever analysts called to buy and gave a higher TP , it is time for them to unload to those who trust their buy calls.
Yesterday drop of 6% was overdone and unwarranted, IMHO
To put things in perspective:
1) Rising cost of cocoa is a concern to Delfi but more importantly, they hedged forward up to
18 months ahead to buffer the volatility  giving them the flexibility and ability to adjust their
costing of their products.
2) If prolong escalation of cocoa prices persists,  likely the Co may hv to filter and passed the
rising cost to the consumer ....this is quite normal for any enterprise to mitigate the pressure
3) Indo economy is expected to do well and that may  translates to higher sales / profit
4) Co also guided a strong FY23 during their Q1 update
Let' s wait for their 1st half year result + Dividend announcement on Aug 7 and what' s the
guidance ahead with the backdrop of their rising costs

Don' t lao-sai anymore today, please! I have no more bullets to fire anymore.
Omg. This is bad. Big dump before result announcement. Cui result? Sian
Opportunity to buy cheap ...
Regardless rising or decline in cocoa prices, pple need to consume, wl still buy. Luckily, Delfi do hedging quite early to buffer any volatility
Hv we seen any decline in cigarette sales despite high cigarette price...
Remained steadfast

Well, always remember that share prices is forward looking. You can't deny the fact that cocoa prices are rising and if it is maintain throughout till end 2024, it is bound to affect delfi profit if cost are not pass to consumer. In any case, Mr market is always right.

More important how the market thinks about it.
I don't think delfi will be really affected by the soaring cocoa price this year as it puts in effort to hedge it and stock up inventory. Is it shortist at work?
Will the company's sales and/or profit margin be negatively impacted by recent rising cocoa price?
?As part of our processes and strategies for managing volatilities in our strategic raw materials (including cocoa ingredients), on a regular basis our purchasing team will cover our raw materials as far forward as possible as this allows us to lock-in forward costs to a major extent thus providing cost visibility and margin stability.
This cost visibility allows us time to plan our mitigation initiatives, which might include in some cases increasing prices, introducing updated products or managing the sizing of our products. It is important to note that although we have the flexibility to manage our margins, we always aim to protect the value-proposition for consumers.?

Rising costs have been budgeted for with sound solutions. Let?s see coming half yearly result with management comments. So long they managed to raise price and transfer the cost to consumers, at the same time protect the sales volume, all is good. Cheers.
