There was a blog post on whether APTT' s distribution is considered sustainable:

I' m vested but just making sure that their borrowings or expenditure will not affect the distribution so as to believe that I am still getting a stock that is currently worth its price.
whats the div yeild at 54c (current price) ?
YesTemasek holds 7.83% of their shares, being the highest above all. Price now is 0.535.
Is it worthwhile to go in considering:
DPU
In the earnings release, APTT had guided for a distribution per unit of between 6.5 and 7.0 cents for 2016. That&rsquo s a decline of between 21% and 15% when compared to the distribution seen in 2015.
At 7 cents: 0.07/0.535 = 13.08%
At 0.65 cents: 0.065/0.535 = 12.15%
And it seemed to be the lowest of 52 week.
Anyway. I just vested 19,000 worth of shares. Any advice?

The company has already said the dividends for this year is 1.625 cts per quater and possibly slightly higher for the final quarter. This is because they need to spend more to upgrade to digital format broadcast so they will be able to charge higher subscription for their services. Some forerunners only take the slightly lower dividend at face value and predict the stock has no future but I take this measure as prudent and good management. Besides, it is only temporary but inspite of that the dividend is still very attractive.
As for competition from new players, the barrier is very high. I am not sure of the tussle by interested parties in the share of APTV - the motive of the shortists and the longists - but for those interested in the very generous dividends my opinion is in the next few years, it looks good but dyodd. It is on the uptrend now having broken the very strong resistence of 57.5 cts.
