Continuous short-selling over consecutive days or even over an extended period of market downturn with large volumes of short-selling orders every day could bring a share price down gradually even with covering back the short-sold shares. If one looks at the published daily short-selling reports by SGX, certain counters repeatedly go under fire by short-sellers. The short-sellers are opportunistic in nature and ride on the potential negative sentiments surrounding a potential short-selling candidate company to continue bashing the share price down by short-selling. The short-selling volumes could be large in many cases especially in companies that have very negative news.
I think cases like Noble Group due to its previous high amount of liabilities and debts carried on its balance sheet to be settled plus downturn in commodities prices, O& G stocks like Keppel Corp due to the oil price crisis over the past two years and many others have been bashed down hard in their share prices by short-sellers. Once a selling trend on the stock has been confirmed due to very negative news about the company that last for a good long period of time, it facilitates the overall negative selling sentiments on a stock with everyone selling the shares (due to pessimistic herd mentality to exit) and short-sellers also ride on the downtrending share price.

If there' s not much of a problem for its fundamental, then this might really a money-striking stock. But since there' s short sellers, they ought to cover back right ? But why the share price still ... ?
Not vested currently.

the coming div fr 2017 will b 0.022 if is still the same as 2016....am still holding...
Just kidding. I am picking up more, as much as I can affford. There is one more guaranteed round of S$0.0162 distribution coming up for this quarter. Total year distribution now close to 17% at today' s price. Where else to find ?
And if no major bad news, price can appreciate more than 150% from here. Sweet.

Buy more to scare the Shortist ...
If the company is not in serious potential major problems since they do not have any short term refinancing risk and the drop in share price is due to short selling, then it maybe just happen that this counter is selected as a short-selling candidate by short sellers. Maybe the short-sellers foresee short term there will be negative news on the Trust which may have high likelihood to continue to cause the price to be depressed. These short-sellers are opportunistic in nature and if one is concerned about the fall in the price, then one could either do dollar cost averaging or just hold on and wait for the short-selling pressure to subside in due time. If the Trust is not heading for impending serious issues, it is just a selling down of the unit price.
However as what I have shared earlier, whether the amount of dividends paid out for next year will be sustainable at current levels is still a question. I guess this is the concern right now instead of the Trust having any major potential problems. As always pls DYODD.

May not be. The volume being sold is not large.
Looking at previous month' s announcement about disposal of units being held by " restricted persons" , this may explain where the sale is coming from. The trust is selling off those shares that were bought by PRC nationals. They are under law, not allowed to buy into Taiwan cable TV businesses.  The trust have been complusorily buying their shares off market and are dispoisng of them now.
Please see portion of announcement repeated here.
Asian Pay Television Trust (" APTT" ) invests in the cable television industry of Taiwan. Under the Measures Governing Investment Permit for the People of Mainland China Area, PRC Persons (as defined in the trust deed dated 30 April 2013 (the " Trust Deed" ) constituting APTT) are restricted from investing in certain business areas, including the cable television industry in Taiwan (the " PRC Investment Restrictions" ).

Every day this stock kena short, can see from SGX short report.
Biz industry for APTV is really bad....
pay tv takeup rate is low and there are so many other alternatives to paytv.

sure drop drop drop in long term, as seen in the trend, dont be the retailer that gets stuck inside

My suspect is internal major shareholder are offloading secretly. It could be the poor retailer picking them up.

Logic defying. Temasek substantial shareholder, dividend returns around 17%, and yet price falling like stone.
Unless there is something really bad happening with the company, this could be a terrific buying opportunity.
