GSS Energy now at 16 cents is a low-hanging fruit.
Solid balance sheet that will get stronger once first oil is struck in Indonesia, perhaps within the next few weeks....
GSS Energy has minimal debt (about S$49,000) while cashflow has been positive.
It has:
ü   Cash balance of S$8.2 million.
ü   S$3.9 million parked in held-to-maturity financial assets
ü   S$258,000 as pledged deposits.

slowly but surely going up, appr. 10% up in less than a month so really good one for long term investment. I' m holding quite a bit and quite confident that will go up more once they start drilling oil.
The action is about to start: With 90-95% of the required equipment on site, GSS Energy is getting close to the start of drilling for oil in its concession in Central Java.
One can infer that, barring technical issues, it  could recognise first oil revenue from the Trembul Operation Area in the 4Q of this year.
The concession has a track record of oil production, which was cut short during the World War II.
" No doubt about it, the oil is there. We just need to go in and drill. This is low-hanging fruit," said Mr Bambang Mulyadi, President Director of PT  Sarana GSS Trembul, the JV which won the contract, in Nov 2016.  (see:  GSS ENERGY: New oil field contract is " low-hanging fruit" ).

If first oil is announced and the indications are all positive for   a higher reserve estimate, the share price should easily be more than 20 cents, imho.
if you crunch the numbers specific to the PE business - they did a core NPAT of $8.02m (1H16: $2.48m and 2H16: $5.54m).
comparatively, PE business grew 57.2% yoy to $3.9m for 1H17 (despite incurring FX loss instead of FX gain as seen in 1H16). assuming zero growth for 2H17 (which would be an extreme case given the strong growth in 1H), they would probably do $9-10m. With an assumption that they deliver $10m core NPAT for PE business in FY17, that would put the market cap at $100m, implying a 33.3% upside from present price of $0.152 to $0.20. the growth trajectory had been consistent and strong throughout the quarters since the management turned around the business. with a base assumption of just 10% growth for FY18 and discount to peers at 10x PE, fair value for PE business alone is easily $0.22-23/share.
that being said, you are not even ascribing premium value to the quality of earnings that the PE business is delivering. with the group' s total equity of just under $40m and assuming $10m NPAT for PE business, it translates to ROE of about 25% for FY17. ROE for FY16 was at approximately 21% ($8m NPAT over total equity of $37.8m). if you dive into an analysis of the peers, do not think there are many, if any that I might have missed out, that might have comparable ROE and quality of earnings. last peer that I can possibly think of would be Innovalues with ROE in excess of 30%.
undervalued or overvalued - to each his/her own. happy holidays all!

I don't know if the CEO is a savvy fund manager but that doesn't matter.
All I'm concerned is the fundamental of the company and the valuation.
It will be overprice (relative to fellow PE peers) at 0.161....
Any value above 0.161 u are pricing in oil biz, anything below I am of the view the PE biz is undervalued.
I'm guessing this coy is under valued because their PE supports other industry instead of micro chips.

How is this price level considered overpriced? The stock is at below precision engeering companies avg PE. The oil biz is valued at 0 at this price lvl.
I stand corrected
I stand corrected
Over priced at this level. It gotta drop to below 13   before some value and interest trikle in. Good luck
