Airbus going to charge royalty based on MRO specialist gross invoiced amount from next year 2020 onwards. This royalty excludes MRO services performed by Airline on their own planes.

Thus, it makes absolute sense for SIA to takeover SIAEC before 2020 so as to avoid paying additional royalties on SIA' s Airbus aircraft serviced by SIAEC. It benefits both SIA and SIAEC considering SIAEC business mainly comes from SIA. And meaningless for SIAEC to remain listed given that it is cash generating and net cash postion for many years.

Short term catalyst - end of grounding of Boeing 737 MAX, stable dividend (Nov), stable quarter result

Mid / Long term catalyst - privatising by SIA

Good time to buy.

It is anyone' s guess on timing and amount .... and I tend to echo forum-er " lausk22" ..... not much to gain for minority unless you are averaging-down your purchase-price (from buying high previously) ..... and either minimise losses or catch some gain.

Based on recent privatisations, it may not translate to much gains for the minority

Seems the trend is for parent company to private their subsidiaries.

For example, Keppel Corp, privatise Keppel Land

SIA and SIA engineering both surged on Firday closing. Similar to July. Privatisation play again?

4.3% dividend yield and with potential privatisation upside, at closing price $2.57 is just a steal to me.laugh

Checking SIA past divestments, there appeared a third possibility SIA might redistribute SIA eng share to all it investors similar to what happen to SATS decades ago. Might cause a lanslide in stock price due to more liquidity in poor market environment but would slowly recover. This way control would still be retained by temasek while keeping sia eng indepency. But would be nasty blow to existing shareholders as stock price take a plunge.
By the way sg government don consider air travel a necessity, it a luxury item. Can sell for a good price better or strike a good deal with potential buyers to jack up changi traffic.

It is not the price.

It   is security and safety.

Talk to your senior management friend working in government or GLC.
