Banyan Tree is one of the most famous Singapore brand that is going places. It has launched its third brand, Cassia service residences, after Angsana and Banyan Tree. And at the rate it is adding brands, D, E, F etc... it is going to attract some big buyers. A potential takeover target, should the Ho family wants to sellout.

Seeing quite a bit of interests on Banyan Tree, while management has also been buying back its shares. Notably DBS Vickers coming up with a report last Friday, highlighting that while Banyan Tree (BTH) is expected to face some impact from the &ldquo Bangkok shutdown by anti-government protestors in 1Q14, believe that the group will remain profitable given its heavier exposure in Phuket where performance of their resorts seem to be relatively shielded from the political woes in Bangkok, (ii) diversified exposure across major hospitality markets of Maldives / Lijiang /Bintan where demand have continued to remain robust. The group has also seen positive take-ups in new property launches across Asia, where its new property projects &ndash Laguna Shores and Laguna Park receive robust reception since their launch over 2012-2013 and the group is capitalizaing on this trend to the other resort locations of Bintan and Penang. Going forward, the group has unrecognized revenues of $64.9m as of Dec&rsquo 13 which might balloon up to $130m, assuming that all units launched and its existing inventory of branded residences are sold.
The Dubai Arbitral Tribunal has issued an award in favour of Banyan Tree in relation to its claim for the wrongful termination of the hotel hgt agreement for The Meydan (HMA) first announced in Nov 2009. The Meydan Group is liable to the sum of US$19.2m as compensatory damages, plus interest at 3% p.a. until fully paid. Separately, the Meydan Group has commenced counter lawsuits in the Dubai Courts against Banyan Tree. Banyan Tree will issue further announcement(s) in the event that there are any material developments in the matter.
BANYAN Tree Holdings Ltd on Tuesday posted a 163 per cent jump in net profit to S$1.7 million for the second quarter ended June 30, 2013 from S$644,000 a year ago.
Overall revenue rose by 3 per cent to S$81.7 million from S$79.3 million a year ago.
This was mainly driven by higher revenue from the hotel investments and fee-based segments by S$6.9 million and S$1.5 million respectively, but partially offset by lower revenue from the property sales segment by S$5.9 million.
The hotel investment segment achieved S$46.2 million in revenue this year, up 17 per cent from S$39.3 million last year, thanks to strong contributions from hotels in Thailand and Maldives.
Target price for the next rally:  0.85 and 0.95
Quietly moving up. Should clear 80cts these few days.
Suprisingly so few sellers above 70cts...could be the start of the long bull due to launching of new anchor resort  hotels and condo in central vietnam and revival of its biz in Thailand....may see it clearing $1 in short term.
hmmm suddenly shoot up to 0.705

Banyan Tree: DBSV notes a strong 1Q13 results with earnings rising 19% to $14m. Sees outlook for hotels and property sales continuing on an upward momentum. Notes forward bookings for hotels improving while new property launches in Phuket are selling like hot cakes. Given its asset heavy balance sheet, the house believes that setting up a REIT (probably from its Thailand properties, coupled with properties from its Indochina and China Funds) can result in the group crystalizing significant value in its balance sheet. Maintains Buy and TP $0.83.
Banyan Tree...our national treasure! Look forward to it spinning off a REIT
