This is old news, talking about the last year as a whole.

On the other hand I have been buying much more at 90 cents and below! But I am not an insider, but buying in the belief that the wind down is getting ever closer and in the meantime cocoa prices have fallen rapidly.

Olam Group Insider Ups Holding During Year

Simply Wall St
22 January 2026

Insiders were net buyers of  Olam Group Limited' s  (SGX:VC2  ) stock during the past year. That is, insiders bought more stock than they sold.

While we would never suggest that investors should base their decisions solely on what the directors of a company have been doing, logic dictates you should pay some attention to whether insiders are buying or selling shares.

Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider purchase was by Co-Founder Sunny George Verghese for S$496k worth of shares, at about S$0.99 per share. That means that even when the share price was higher than S$0.91 (the recent price), an insider wanted to purchase shares. It' s very possible they regret the purchase, but it' s more likely they are bullish about the company. In our view, the price an insider pays for shares is very important. As a general rule, we feel more positive about a stock when an insider has bought shares at above current prices, because that suggests they viewed the stock as good value, even at a higher price. Sunny George Verghese was the only individual insider to buy shares in the last twelve months.

Hopefully, it is not illegal stock market activities going on. Otherwise, the authority should step in to investigate before it causes financial losses for innocent investors.

Agree, assuming there is not something someone with inside info is trading on that we do not know about.

There is actually something else going on which is very positive for Olam, which is the fall in the cocoa price. High cocoa and coffee prices in the past few years is the big cause of the massive increase in working capital debt and downward pressure on profit over the past few years, and as a result of which Olam' s share price has actually become massively levered. As this unwinds Olam' s profit should bounce back up like an uncoiled spring. Will be interesting to see what the company says about this in their results.

When a share dropped so long out of no reason, we should buy it. Whoever is hammering down the share and sacrificing trading costs should know by now that it is going nowhere to vent your anger and wasting good money. Peace be with you, my friend. Watch out your blood pressure!

Yeah! How come you still around? It doesn' t look like an over supply situation. It looks more like some big shot is buying and then dumping, and buying again to dump again scenerio. How to benefit from this action?

What happened? So quiet now, nothing to say about share price dropped so heavy today to close at 89 cts. Look like everyone gone to heal their wound. Where is Temasek or where is Mitsubishi Corporation? We need heroes now, maybe Trump around will be better!

Agree - I have said the same before as well. One linked point is that in an acquisition it is the offeror not the target that is responsible for securing regulatory clearances. So in this case it is SALIC who is doing the work, not Olam. Frankly, Saudi Arabia has a lot more geopolitical pull than Singapore. If Saudi comes knocking for approval no one is going to refuse them.

Guess salic will try not to give up because salic had spent billions in Olam Agri and not easy to find another similar target to aquire , also must go thru everything , regulatory approvals , etc etc . Might as well stuck to Olam Agri .,

In the past Temasek had strategic reasons to be invested on top of purely financial ones, in particular creating multiple large SIngapore controlled and HQed agri/commodity businesses with SGX listings. WIth what happened with Olam Agri and OFI that strategic ambition has gone away now and Temasek now only has financial objectives remaining. Hence the wind down plan, getting rid of previous management and looking to recover as much as possible from their investment, with their S$2.23 in price being the first target.

From AI Overview

Temasek invested in Olam through multiple stages, first taking a ~13.76% stake in 2009 for around S$437.5 million and later leading a 2014 takeover offer for the remaining shares at S$2.23 per share, valuing the company at approximately $4.3 billion (or $5.33 billion total) to become the major shareholder, a significant move reflecting their long-term support for Olam.

So no need to worry because Temasek is paying such a high price to hold 52% stake in the company. Check it out yourselves
