Yes. Very, very brave of her to walk right next to the car to try to open the door, I suppose.
Dunno if she even managed to do that.
I cannot imagine holding the handle of the door of a burning car with my bare hands.
Plus she could have done that but was unable to open the door as it was jammed from the impact or had partially fused with
the door frame due to meltdown from the heat. I wish her speedy recovery and hope her scarring is not as bad as feared.
She is a pretty girl. Hope her face wasnt scarred. It will help.
You guys watched that video of her emerging from the burning car like a walking torch ?
What I dont understand is.... when she was standing at the roadside opposite the crash site, she was still on fire for a very
long time. But there was no attempt by her or by the guy she was with to put out the fire. Its like she became dazed or shell-shocked
until she also didnt care or didnt feel she was still on fire. The taxi driver who stopped in the middle of the road tried to assist by going
to his boot to retrieve a fire extinguisher. But I think it was jammed or faulty. He didnt manage to use it. He passed it to the guy and he
too couldnt use it. Heat from fire is a dont play play. Many many moons ago I attended a Chinese funeral wake. On the last nite, there
was this burning of the paper mansion, paper car and others. Before these stuffs were lighted up, people were standing around nearby.
After they were lighted up, the heat was so intense that people just naturally backed off far far away. If you dont, you will be cooked by
the heat. So heat from methane gas .... I suppose will be much worse than heat from burning paper and satay sticks.

She is very brave. If you had attended a fire fighting training, you would know the intensity of the heat from a big flame. No
human without protection gears would go within meters near the flame. That is the reason the guy backed off. I pray for her
recovery.

Based on 2 separate videos I watched, I can say that the intention to speed down Tanjong Pagar Rd was pre-planned.
After the accident, how did a male friend and the driver' s girlfriend get to the scene so quickly?
Becoz I think they were there to film the speeding.

It was 5 am in the morning.
Why would there be people standing at a roadside at 5 am and randomly filming an empty road plus managed to pan the camera
from left to right to capture the entire sequence of the BMW speeding past ?

The girl was captured in this video. So obviously, someone else was doing the video-ing, not this girl.
After the accident, a young man arrived at the scene in a car. Probably the same person who shot the above video.
The girl, upon hearing the loud sound of the crash, ran on foot towards the site of the accident.

This explains how a friend and the driver' s girlfriend were at the scene barely a minute after the accident.
Very traumatic for the girl to see someone she loves dearly pass on right in front of her and there was nothing she could do about it.

Yes, it' s the gear box. The local distributor suggested changing the whole transmission unit. Price 25k. I told him to fo, then I
changed car......

But I agree it' s very dangerous that while cruising and it suddenly goes into that mode.

the pedal. It just would not go faster. Imagine if I needed speed to get out of a risky situation. I wrote to the manufacturer as I deemed
these as very serious safety issues. They referred me to the local distributor who bs away these issues. These cars are supposedly
built on top of the auto technology of the day. I have questions about some of the safety features which can turn out to be hazards |

My 1st brush with this kind of electronic cars was when I was driving in US back in early 200x..........It was a " H......" brand car .........I almost kenna rammed by a huge truck when I was filtering into the highway and attempt to accelerate...........there was a delay in the accelaration due to " I speculate" some fuel efficient programming or something............ really close call.

I believed that the BMW did not crash head on, but rather it hit the rear side into the pillar of the shophouse while skidding on a 360 degree.
This means that impact for the passengers or drivers is sideways, and car are not really build to handle side impacts as well as front impacts (so does the airbags).
The explosion could be ignited due to the fuel tanks and leading to the engine?

there' s something happening on the raw material prices for the past few weeks...
rubber/pvc/silicone/plastic prices are now going to the moon... (prices like 30-40% higher than pre-covid).... noone really knows what' s exactly happening...

Brokers' take: Analysts raise target price on UOB as net interest margin bottoms out

ANALYSTS have raised target prices on UOB as they believe the bank' s net interest margin has bottomed out.
In a research note on Friday, DBS maintained its " buy" call and raised its target price on UOB to S$27.60, up from the previous target price of S$22.20.
Analyst Lim Rui Wen is optimistic of a better business environment for local banks on observations that net interest margins (NIMs) for all three local banks UOB, OCBC and DBS have bottomed out.
She noted that UOB' s NIM had inclined four basis points (bps) quarter on quarter, a second consecutive quarter of improvement led by lower cost of funds. She believes that " the worst NIM declines are largely over" and forecast an NIM of about 1.57 per cent for UOB in FY2021.
Further, she opined that the banks are poised for return-on-equity recovery as " asset quality environment has stabilised from trough levels" and banks continue to make active provisions for non-performing assets and non-performing loans.
" We expect broad-based fee income growth across the banks on improved momentum of business activities as banks expect wealth management to continue to be a material growth contributor for fees," said Ms Lim.
Meanwhile, Maybank Kim Eng continued to declare a preference for OCBC over UOB, as it maintained a " hold" call on UOB.
The brokerage raised its target price on UOB to S$26.24 on expectations that the lender will benefit further from a pick-up in economic activity as well as the potential escalation of the North-South supply chain momentum.
Analyst Thilan Wickramasinghe estimated the bank' s loans to expand 7 per cent year on year in FY2021 compared to 5 per cent in FY2020 as demand from clients in segments such as logistics, data centres, suburban real estate rises.
" Singapore' s hub status and strengthening North-South supply chain relocations should also be a key driver for loans and fees to grow going forward," he said.
Even though the bank' s asset quality showed signs of improvement, Mr Wickramasinghe thinks there are still risks, given that non-performing loans made up a " material portion of UOB' s portfolio" .
Shares of UOB were trading at S$24.67 as at 1.34pm on Friday, up S$0.02 or 0.1 per cent.
