https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.theverge.com/platform/amp/22771702/graphene-power-bank-review-price-speed I am more looking forward to the development of fast charging and higher storage battery. It is not just lithium battery which is widely use now. Graphene battery and other type of battery are in full stream of development. Hydrogen energy or so called fuel cells were discussed 20 years ago as replacement for car energy but what we really see now is lithium battery from Tesla which transform the car industry 10 years ago. Now whole world resources are focusing how to charge the battery faster, shorter and higher storage. There are many technologies are available and in the stages to transform to commercially. US had abandoned fuel cell or so called hydrogen, China is 100% in battery evolution development. The country may still focus is Norway and Japan who considered as pioneers 20 years ago, it is like an destined fail race game with battery. In fact, instead of store energy in battery, the green technology is to store energy in hydrogen and nitrogen but have to waste a lot of energy in conversion, cryogenic (rapid cooling) and etc. The winner of the game of energy storage is very obvious now, the one change this race is elon Musk. My eye just roll big big when I saw still got genius talking about fuel cell. 😒 😒 😒

Oh gosh... Buy SCM really need to have basic science and practical knowledge. Question1 : which can go further ? a fully fuelled petrol car or a full charged electric car ... both of the same size. Question2: which can store longer ? petrol or the best technology battery. battery discharge over time.

Build a big battery at jurong Island will be much more realistic to build a ammonia plant. Hydrogen and oxygen are 2 most killer explosive gas which has no solution to prevent ignition with high contents. Really a joke to see hydrogen is still considered to be as energy. Really omg.

Singapore' s Temasek Working with Portfolio Firms in Green Transition

Anshuman Daga  December 2, 2021

Singapore state investor Temasek is working with its portfolio companies to help them become more green as advancing sustainability goals becomes the new normal, the firm' s chief sustainability officer said on Thursday.

Temasek, with a portfolio valued at S$381 billion ($278.81 billion) as of March, has committed more than S$2 billion this year to the decarbonization sector alone, Steve Howard told the Reuters Next conference.

" We want to work with those companies and help make sure that they are supported in having transition plans," Howard added. " We don' t eliminate carbon or transform to full sustainability overnight, and so it' s a journey."

Large investors have come under increased pressure to factor in environmental, social and governance strategies when deciding where to put their money, with the COP26 climate summit that ended last month providing an additional impetus.

U.N. climate talks ended with a deal that for the first time targeted fossil fuels as the key driver of global warming, while the agreement also kept alive hope of capping global warming at 1.5 degrees Celsius.

Howard said Temasek was also having to make weekly decisions about not investing in certain sectors, namely those it does not consider " part of the future or they' re carbon-intensive without a plan or they have really negative externalities."

Still, the state investor has already set itself targets to lower carbon emissions attributable to its portfolio to half the 2010 levels by 2030, eventually reaching net-zero by 2050.

" If you' d asked me a year ago, I' d say capital markets are still largely asleep. Now they' re awake, they' ve had coffee and they' re starting to make investment decisions," Howard said.

THIS IS VERY TRUE SINCE 18 MONTHS AGO. ALL VENTURE CAPITALISTS HAVE TO ADHERE TO THE NEW REQUIREMENTS. AND BANKS ARE MORE WILLING TO LEND TO THOSE COMPANIES THAT ABIDE TO THESE RULES. HENCE, FOR GREEN ENERGY PROJECTS, SM SHOULD HAVE LITTLE PROBLEM GETTING LOANS, INSTEAD OF HAVING TO RELY ON RIGHTS ISSUE.

This kind of funny green energy development concept is a joke. At first, which country can produce solar and wind energy more than sufficient for domestic usage and got extra for export? Answer is none. If solar and wind energy are so affordable, stable and constant load, why whole Europe still rely on natural gas and nuclear power. Germany who was the world pioneer to abandon nuclear power and dump multi billion to develop solar energy and wind farm energy 20 years ago. Where they are? Still import electricity from France which own 50 over nuclear plan and natural gas from Russia. When there are not extra electricity to be generated for exporting, this is super funny talking about using electricity from wind and solar energy to do electrolysis on water to produce hydrogen and oxygen and then mix hydrogen with nitrogen as ammonia to export, in fact target is hydrogen which we all known 20 years ago by using hydrogen and oxygen in the air to produce electricity to move car so called hydrogen car. This technology is completely failed and abandoned when Musk Elon's tesla managed to tell whole world how to resolve it by building a long lasting battery which the whole world move to electric car. When electricity can be transmitted through multi thousand km by using high voltage cables from Australia to Singapore, from western China to Eastern China. Here taking about by using electrolysis to make hydrogen and oxygen and mixed with nitrogen to produce ammonia and deliver ammonia and then produce hydrogen again then react with oxygen again to produce electricity and water. What a joke!!!!! Battery and high voltage cables can solve the electricity transport purpose. Biggest Global warming problem is how we are going to replace fossil fuel plant electricity generation which include coal, gas and oil to reduce carbon emissions with green energy including nuclear solar wind thermal sea tide hydro power and etc. What this mean? This mean 63% of electricity generation is still fossil fuels which global has no solution to replace it at all. So where is the extra electricity can play this funny ammonia fuel delivery, which country can export it with extra solar and wind energy. When high voltage cables can be used why through vessels, what vessels fuel going to be used? Ammonia? Or oil again? Come on, please, singspore is small country, temasek is rich but cash cannot be burnt for funny ideal especially outside singapore. Sell away the Norwegian company to whoever interest and stop bleeding!!

World&rsquo s First Liquid Hydrogen-powered Vessel Wins Ship of the Year Award

Singapore, 30 September 2021  &ndash   MF HYDRA, a sustainable and innovative ferry designed by Sembcorp Marine&rsquo s subsidiary LMG Marin AS, has won the prestigious Ship of the Year Award given by  Skipsrevyen, a 50 year-old Nordic maritime magazine publication house.

The  MF HYDRA is a zero-emission vessel operated by Norled and will be the world&rsquo s first vessel to be powered by liquid hydrogen. At more than 82m long with a capacity of up to 300 passengers and 80 cars,  MF HYDRA operates at a service speed of about nine knots.

Equipped with an 80m3  liquid hydrogen tank, the vessel is able to ply its route in the fjord area between Hjelmeland, Nesvik and Skipavik for up to three weeks without refuelling. Its sophisticated propulsion system allows batteries to operate in conjunction with the liquid fuel hydrogen fuel cells and also includes a redundancy feature that allows the ferry to sail on biodiesel.

At the Awards ceremony held on 8 September 2021, the Norwegian Prime Minister Ms Erna Solberg made a speech via electronic broadcast and said that  MF HYDRA  was a ground-breaking project that challenged traditional technological solutions and design.

LMG Managing Director Mr Torbjorn Bringedal said, &ldquo As the world&rsquo s first ship powered by liquid hydrogen,  MF HYDRA  is a game-changer for the marine industry. It will pave the way for the adoption of hydrogen as a fuel for shipping and support the International Maritime Organization&rsquo s goal to halve global greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. LMG Marin, with our extensive track record of innovative naval architecture, is proud to contribute to global decarbonisation efforts and a more sustainable world for current and future generations.&rdquo

This comment just goes to show your ignorance. There are enough wind and solar power, just not at the right places and right time. That' s why ammonia and hydrogen as media to store energy is vital for the green energy movement. Go figure.

Many analysts are predicting that ' green' hydrogen and ammonia are going to replace Crude oil and even LNG as the default maritime fuel in 20-30 years time.

Japan' s MOL aims to commission ' large' ammonia-fueled ammonia tanker in 2026

HIGHLIGHTS

Japan sees great potential in ammonia as power generation fuel

Japan' s fuel ammonia demand estimated at 3 million mt/year in 2030

MOL aims for 110 net-zero emission ocean-going vessels by 2035

Japan' s Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, or MOL, said Nov. 4 it aims to commission a " large" ammonia-fueled ammonia tanker in 2026 as part of its efforts to deploy net-zero emission ocean liners in the 2020s.

MOL will jointly develop the large ammonia-fueled ammonia tanker with Japan' s Namura Shipbuilding and Mitsubishi Shipbuilding on a scale that would be accepted by the power generation sector, an MOL spokesperson said, declining to specify the size of the prospective tanker.

The move comes at a time when Japan sees great potential in fuel ammonia as a CO2 zero-emission fuel as the country aims to cut its greenhouse gas emissions by 46% by fiscal year 2030-31 (April-March) from the FY 2013-14 level and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.

Japan currently estimates the fuel ammonia demand for power generation will be 3 million mt/year in 2030 and expects it to grow to 30 million mt/year in 2050, equivalent to 1.5 times the current international trade of ammonia as a fertilizer, according to the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.

Going net-zero

MOL, which plans to deliver the first pure battery coastal ship in 2022, now plans to deploy net-zero emission ocean-going vessels in the late 2020s and boost the number of ocean liners fueled by synthetic methane, ammonia, hydrogen and biodiesel to about 110 by 2035, the company said.

By 2030, MOL plans to introduce around 90 LNG-fueled ships, excluding LNG carriers.

MOL' s 2035 target reduction by 45% in GHG emission intensity compares against the 2019 level. In fiscal 2019-20, MOL' s Scope 1, 2 and 3 CO2 emissions totaled 14.889 million mt with a GHG emission intensity of 10.86 g CO2e/ton-mile.

MOL has earmarked about Yen 200 billion ($1.8 billion) in the three years from fiscal 2021-22 (April-March) to spend on decarbonization and low carbon businesses, including on LNG carriers, under its first budget focused on environmental strategies as it accelerates efforts toward carbon neutrality.

MOL, which has the world' s largest LNG carrier fleet with 98 tankers -- as at March 31 -- sees growth in LNG as a low-carbon fuel for transport, and has been involved in LNG value chains through its power ship and floating storage regasification unit, or FSRU, businesses. MOL' s LNG carrier fleet is due to expand further to 100 tankers by the end of March 2022.

Sembmarine is currently building a LNG Bulker vessel for MOL. Maybe can get some ammonia tanker biz from MOL in due time

And also, not every companies can built offshore at deep oceans . . . . . . funny all your post... if you think deeper, they are actually SCM bullish statements.

Green ammonia is produced with hydrogen derived from water electrolysis powered by renewable sources of energy such as wind and solar, making it an environmentally-friendly fuel. Since when, which country in the world can produce extra wind and solar power for making hydrogen through water electrolysis👏 👏 👏 really a genius discovery when natural gas price hit 7 times in Europe due to insufficient energy for heating and electricity. 👏 👏 👏

You might notice that BT and Straits Times are now very prompt in reporting positive news on Sembmarine.

Patrick Daniel, the interim CEO of SPH Media Trust is now also on the executive Committee of SCM' s board.
