SCI's relative insulation from global gas price volatility: SCI's gas-fired power generation in Singapore is highly contracted, with 98% to 99% of its generation capacity supported by offtake contracts (Power Purchase Agreements - PPAs). Next is 75-80% of contracted sales, thus providing stable margin. Leaving 20%-25% through 50% stake in Senoko Energy to high electricity price market. Highest 12% increase in this price for Senoko Energy.

Just to clarify. The 5 year contracts are electricity supply contracts to Singapore consumers in the open electricity market. Meaning the electricity rates are locked in for the next 5 years and SembCorp will have to absorb the energy cost. Some consumers have signed 10 year contract for example GSK

If Iran really retaliate those power energy infrastructure in ME, got 5 yrs contracts also no use...Clients use FM to escape contracts break.
Please be aware of this information. It might work against those who think SembCorp would benefit from the present energy crisis
As of February 2026, approximately 80% of Sembcorp&rsquo s portfolio in Singapore is on contracts of five years and are

Analysts project further upside, with short-term trends signaling potential rises toward S$8.68-S$9.48 in three months
Sembcorp Industries Ltd stock gained 0.98% on March 19, 2026, closing at S$6.16 on the SGX in SGD, leading gainers amid a declining Straits Times Index. Earlier, on March 18, shares surged over 4% following a broker upgrade that spotlighted the company's relative insulation from global gas price volatility. This defensive outlook stems from long-term power contracts with fixed margins and cost pass-through mechanisms.
The stock's resilience contrasts with broader market pressures from geopolitical tensions affecting energy supplies. Volume on March 19 reached typical levels around 3 million shares, with the price holding in a 52-week range of S$4.94 to S$7.93 on SGX. Strait of Hormuz Vulnerability: China receives nearly half of its oil and one-third of its liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the Middle East. The 2026 Iran conflict and potential closure of the Strait of Hormuz directly threaten this supply. In response to the 2026 Iran conflict, Chinese authorities ordered refineries to halt fuel exports to preserve domestic supply. (I heard that SCI's China segment will probably see significant lower curtailment rate in wake of energy and gas supply shortage just like what happened to India. Good luck to investors)
SG segment is more than 70% of total SCI revenue. SG electricity price up 11% through 50% stake senoko energy will continue significantly to the SG revenue. This price increase will persist as long as Iran is planning a long term war in Middle East. SCI's no 2 heaviest short positions are still a great concern. Shortist better short other SG stocks heavily impacted by prolonged war except for energy and oil stocks.
