Singapore Airlines (SIA SP) Weaker-than-expected Pax Load Factor A Sign Of Increased Competition
SIA&rsquo s Jul 24 pax load factor dropped to below pre-pandemic levels for the first time since Singapore&rsquo s reopening, although pax capacity supply was still slightly below prepandemic levels. Pax load factor also dipped mom despite July typically being a seasonally stronger month than June. The weaker-than-expected pax load factor could be a sign of increasing competition. Downgrade SIA to SELL with a lower target price of S$5.71, based on 1.09x FY25F P/B (pegged to its historical mean).

For July performance
If look at it individually, its performance is very average.
If comparatively, it should be below average.
just my own opinion.

Seems to be improving.
But these stats need to be compared with other airlines stats to determine whether good or not.
Airline performance is relative.

JULY 2024 OPERATING RESULTS
In July 2024, the Singapore Airlines (SIA) Group' s passenger traffic grew by 3.6% from a year before, while passenger capacity increased by 8.7%.
SIA and Scoot carried 3.2 million passengers in total during the month (+6.7% year-on-year).
The Group passenger load factor (PLF) came in at 85.6%, with SIA and Scoot posting monthly PLFs of 84.7% and 88.9% respectively.
SIA experienced lower load factors for East Asia route region notwithstanding robust growth in passenger traffic, due to the substantial capacity expansion in North Asia.

This outpaced the capacity expansion of 8.2%. Consequently, cargo load factor came in at 57.4% (+5.0 percentage points year-o--year).
At the end of July 2024, the Group' s passenger network1 covered 125 destinations in 36 countries and territories.

Making a U -turn up to close gap. Short sellers beware.
I personally feel that the current price is close to the bottom line.
