The Grange Road car park behind 313@Somerset mall is to be transformed into a permanent event space as part of efforts to add buzz and vibrancy to the Orchard Road pedestrian experience and attract more visitors, three government bodies announced on Friday (Oct 4).
The car park &mdash which has already held a series of one-off events such as a street market &mdash will be closed from Feb 29, 2020 as the authorities' moves to pedestrianise Singapore&rsquo s premier shopping strip gather pace.
The authorities will launch a &ldquo price and quality&rdquo tender for proposals for the car park&rsquo s transformation later this month, the statement said. The 4,482 sq m carpark is about half the size of a football field with 118 car spaces and 66 motorcycle lots.
Under the planned transformation, the new-look site will host flea markets, pop-up attractions, local acts and food trucks. It will be open to the public even on non-event days.

As a centrepiece in the Somerset area, the car park has hosted six events to date, including the Flashbang street market in December 2017 and will be one of the venues for this year&rsquo s Christmas village.
In the media release issued on Friday, the Urban Redevelopment Authority, the Singapore Land Authority and the Singapore Tourism Board said they will be appointing an operator to transform the car park into a &ldquo dedicated and dynamic event space with complementary commercial offerings&rdquo .

grange road car park has been on trial for various pop-up events to boost orchard road attrativeness.
so far, i don' t recall anything was mentioned about the anguilla car park.  anguilla car park is a much bigger site than grange road car park, and i hope the plans for this space will be even more exciting!

Liat Tower does not belong to them but to Bonvest.

It would be a multi billion project should HPL and WL jointly redevelop Wheelock Place, Lait Tower, Forum, Hilton, Four Seasons and the surrounding space.
The only thing sticking in between is the Far East Shopping Center and the (URA) Anguilar car park. I heard HPL has proposed to the govt to do something with the car park, like beautifying it and then build something over and underneath it. And also may enbloc the Far East Shopping Center (my own speculation).

Share was $0.48 in 1988.

This is not for contra or speculate. Buy q at lower price
The initial offer price was a measly $3.50. Later they upped it to $4.05.
If you look at the industries under which 68Holdings Pte Ltd was lised : " Gaming, Lodging and Restaurants" .
I think, and some people indeed posed, that they might redevelop their Orchard Road properties into some kind of Casino
Resort.
If so, I think HPL share price would shoot through the roof.
But 68 Holdings is now dissolved (as someone said below) and I think gaming is off as the moratorium on the the number
of casinos has been extend for Marina Bay Sands and RWS (my understanding).

When OBS form the consortium together with WL in 2014 to make an offer at $4.05, their intention was not to delist the company. It was explicity mentioned in the offer document. So probably they also know that $4.05 wont be good enough to entice all shareholders to accept.
Therefore, a privatisation offer with the intention to delist, should it come, should be higher than the previous $4.05.

The new announcemnt by Lawrence Wong about boosting the plot ratios in the CBD and prime Orchard area, to entice building owners (especially those old ones) to redevelop to include a bigger component of residential units, should benefit HPL greatly, as it has many assets both in West Orchard as well as other parts of Orchard rd.

you are right. but last year 68 holdings returned the hpl shares to their respective holders. wheelock reprensentative also step down from HPL board.
" Nassim Developments Pte. Ltd. (" Nassim" ) held 40% of the equity interest in 68 Holdings Pte. Ltd. (" 68H" ) and was therefore deemed to be interested in the shares in the Company held by 68H by virtue of Section 4 of the Securities and Futures Act. 68H has transferred 102,948,000 shares in the Company to Nassim in exchange for 68H discharging all amounts outstanding under a shareholder loan owing to Nassim. 68H has effected a selective capital reduction pursuant to which 68H distributed 14,399,282 shares in the Company to Nassim in exchange for the cancellation of all the shares Nassim held in 68H. As a result of the abovementioned two transactions, Nassim no longer holds any shares in 68H and is therefore no longer deemed to be interested in the shares of the Company held by 68H."

Don?t think anything will come out in the very near term as the board of directors have already said they are not aware of any possible news that may cause the price movements. And the board includes OBS and David Fu both of who have vested interests.
Tomorrow try buy back my 1100 shares at 3.70 haha
