ComfortDelGro to partially absorb higher fuel costs at its petrol pumps
It will also deploy fuel subsidies to ease the financial pressure on its drivers in the wake of higher pump prices amid the Iran war
[SINGAPORE] Taxi operator   ComfortDelGro (CDG)   : C52 -3.36% will absorb a portion of increased fuel costs at its petrol pumps, amid rising fuel costs due to the Iran war.

It will also deploy &ldquo targeted fuel subsidies&rdquo to reduce the financial pressure on its drivers, it said in a statement on Wednesday (Mar 4).

Michael Huang, who heads CDG&rsquo s point-to-point mobility business in Singapore, said that the moves were part of the company&rsquo s &ldquo broader commitment to driver welfare and operational stability during this period of volatility&rdquo .

&ldquo We are closely monitoring the impact of rising fuel costs driven by the ongoing geopolitical tensions and recognise the direct pressure this places on the livelihoods of our drivers,&rdquo he added.

Some petrol companies have raised their pump prices over the week, after petrol prices rose in tandem with the closure of oil supply channels due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

Shell was the first to raise its posted price of the popular 95-octane fuel by S$0.04 to $2.92 a litre on Tuesday morning.

Caltex increased its prices to match Shell&rsquo s after midday, a move that was followed closely by Esso. Sinopec backed the trend hours later.

According to very recent reporting (as of March 4 2026):
The U.S. and allied strikes have severely degraded Iran&rsquo s military capabilities.
A top U.S. military commander said that Iran has already fired hundreds of ballistic missiles and thousands of drones in retaliation, but that many Iranian weapons systems have also been hit.

Reports suggest hundreds of ballistic missile launchers and drone assets may have been destroyed by U.S./Israeli strikes &mdash significantly affecting Iran&rsquo s capacity to sustain large continued salvos.

This doesn&rsquo t mean Iran has no missiles or drones left, but it may reduce their ability to launch prolonged, large coordinated attacks compared with before the conflict.

Iran is not blocking it by lining up its ships across the strait.
It blocks by shooting missile or drone to ships that passed through.
Having ships or not is irrelevant

In that case, war should end soon. Blocking of strait should not be even worried at all.

yes this is a company that exhibits potential because of its size and clear dividend policy.

however we must be willing to wait out for an increase in share price to perhaps the three dollar mark.

Let the winner take it all!

1) FY 2025 Recent Results & Dividend Dynamics

Earnings & Revenue
  • CDG reported a year-on-year rise in earnings for H2 FY2025, with revenue at about S$2.6 bn and a 7.9% increase in earnings vs prior year. FY2025 saw a record revenue near S$5 bn.
Dividend Track Record
  • ComfortDelGro has a policy of paying ~70& ndash 80% of PATMI as dividends, and its interim dividend in 1H FY2025 was higher than in FY2024, with a dividend yield around mid-5% based on share price levels.
Dividend Yield Appeal
  • A ~5& ndash 5.5% yield is attractive relative to many Singapore stocks, especially outside REITs, which often dominate high yield lists.
💡 Bottom line: The dividend yield is competitive, and CDG continues to reward shareholders with distributions that are supported by decent payout ratios.

2) Valuation & Analyst Views

Analyst Sentiment
  • Brokers like DBS had maintained a BUY rating with a 12-month target notably above recent trading levels, citing international expansion and growth prospects.
Technical/Price Context
  • Some technical models note subdued share price movement, suggesting the stock isn& rsquo t in a strong uptrend.
Strategic Expansion
  • CDG has bolstered earnings by acquiring overseas assets (e.g., A2B, CMAC, Addison Lee) which should enhance earnings mix beyond Singapore.
📊 Takeaway: Strategically, analysts see upside from fundamentals and international growth, though near-term price action hasn& rsquo t been strong.

CD posted a record-high 2025 revenue of S$5.06b (+13% yoy) and core PATMI of S$214m (+4% yoy), beating our forecast by 4% on stronger UK margins.

The public transport and inspection segments drove earnings growth, offsetting P2P margin compression amid competitive pressures.

Maintain BUY with a higher target price of S$1.82 - pegged to 16x 2026 PE. CD offers a decent 5.7% yield for 2026.

Unfortunately due to the usual very late reporting of CDG results, the party is over Now with the war just started 1 day after results, the feel good factor is diminished If CDG directors read this post, CHANGE is required. Follow the banks to report usually within 35 days after the qtr is over. 45 days after the qtr, the party has ended
