Keppel Q1 net profit dips on lower real estate contribution Iran war yet to impact group
Recurring income improves year on year, on the back of higher income from operations and stable profits from asset management
[SINGAPORE] Keppel reported a slightly lower year-on-year net profit for the first quarter ended March, as lower real estate contributions offset higher earnings from its infrastructure and connectivity segments. This excluded the company&rsquo s &ldquo non-core portfolio for divestment and discontinued operations&rdquo .
Including the non-core portfolio&rsquo s performance, overall net profit was also lower, due to fair value losses and lower monetisation gains from its non-core assets.
Asset monetisation year to date in 2026 totalled S$385 million, including the sale of i12 Katong mall announced on Wednesday. Keppel said it is engaging potential buyers for its assets, targeting S$2 billion to S$3 billion in non-core asset sales for the full year.
Previously, Keppel also sold its entire 5 per cent stake in Seatrium, realising a total value of S$430 million in cash based on a weighted average price of S$2.52 per share.
Recurring income improved year on year, supported by higher income from operations and stable net profit from asset management.
Asset management fees increased 13 per cent year on year to S$108 million in Q1 2026. The company added about S$400 million in new funds under management during the quarter and is currently finalising another S$2 billion of investor commitments over the next few months.
In its infrastructure segment, the decarbonisation and sustainability solutions business saw long-term contracts expand to S$7.6 billion as at end-March. It secured long-term contract wins of over S$700 million in the quarter.
The company also reported that its 600-megawatt hydrogen-compatible Keppel Sakra Cogen Plant has completed high-load commissioning and is on track to be ready for generation in the first half of 2026.
In connectivity, Keppel commenced construction of its floating data centre project and will begin construction of Keppel DC SGP 9 in mid-2026. The company is also in advanced discussions with potential customers for its remaining two fibre pairs in the Bifrost Cable System, targeting to sign contracts in the first half of the year.
Limited Middle East exposure
Facing international geopolitical volatility, the company remained cautiously optimistic.
&ldquo Keppel has limited direct exposure to the Middle East, and we have not seen any notable impact on the company thus far,&rdquo said Loh Chin Hua, Keppel&rsquo s CEO.
&ldquo That said, if there is a prolonged disruption to gas supply and an energy crunch, this could have broader impacts on energy security and the macroeconomic environment, which may in turn affect Keppel, including on fundraising and asset monetisation.&rdquo
The company had earlier warned of such significant &ldquo second-order&rdquo effects on global energy prices and the international economy on Apr 13.
Still, Loh noted that the company&rsquo s integrated power business has been resilient, supported by diversified gas supplies and various mechanisms to shield against fuel cost fluctuations.
Stronger financial position
Loh noted that Keppel&rsquo s financial position has improved, with a strong free cash inflow in Q1 2026 compared with an outflow in Q1 2025.
This inflow stemmed from both operating and investing activities, which included higher distributions from sponsor stakes in, and co-investments with, Keppel&rsquo s real estate  investment trusts and private funds.
Shares of Keppel closed 0.3 per cent or S$0.04 higher at S$12.03 on Wednesday.

The first 3 months were not quite in line with expectations, and with the  upcoming ex-dividend (XD)  next week, there may be some  pre-selling pressure  ahead of it.
That said, most of the positive catalysts seem to be  backloaded into Q2, including:
- Seatrium divestment    Keppel has sold its entire 5% stake in Seatrium as  at April  1, realising a total value of $430 million in cash, based on a weighted average price of $2.52 per share, and $1 million in dividends received from Seatrium in 2025.
- i12 Katong  targeted in Q2
- M1 deal  long-stop date on 21 May
- Bifrost cable balance agreement for the 2 cable  expected in Q2
On the  AUM business, it is quite impressive. Personally, I feel there could be merit in  bringing forward the Aermont deal, although it appears management is taking a more  gradual monetisation approach, likely aligned with their longer-term strategy.
From Keppel&rsquo s perspective, this approach may still be favorable, as it allows them to  leverage balance sheet flexibility for share buybacks,

I thought it was XD today when I saw the sharp drop in price.
Keppel to divest i12 Katong for $372 mil
Keppel Limited has agreed to divest its stake in suburban retail mall i12 Katong to Altallo Holdings for a cash consideration of $372.03 million.
The five-storey mall, deemed by the group as a non-core asset, is located at 112 East Coast Road and has a net lettable area of 211,950 sq ft, which includes three basement levels. As at Jan 31, the mall has a committed occupancy of about 96%. Its tenants include CS Fresh, Golden Village, Core Collective and SG Hawker.
Under the conditional agreement, Keppel is divesting 100% of its shares in PRE 1 Investments, which holds the property indirectly through Katong Retail Trust. Altallo Holdings will pay the sum over three tranches. This comprises $0.03 million for the sale shares and $372 million for the repayment of a loan extended to Katong Retail Trust by another Keppel subsidiary.
The consideration for the shares factored in the adjusted net asset value of the sale shares, based on the attributable agreed value of i12 Katong of $26,000 as at Dec 31, 2025.
&ldquo We are pleased to announce the divestment of i12 Katong following a competitive bidding process,&rdquo says Lee Kok Chew, head of Keppel&rsquo s accelerating monetisation task force.
&ldquo When completed, the transaction will unlock substantial cash that can be reinvested to higher-return opportunities aligned with the New Keppel, while allowing us to reduce debt and also reward our shareholders,&rdquo he adds.
Including this transaction, Keppel has announced about $14.9 billion in total asset monetisation since it embarked on its asset monetisation programme in October 2020.
The sale is expected to be completed in 2Q2026.
Keppel' s shares traded 6 cents higher or 0.5% higher at $12.05 as of the mid-day break on April 22.
