With UOB bigger move today, will OCBC be having a lower PB ratio of the 3?

And, how' s the GE offer turning out?

Highly doubt this will take place .
But if it does , will be a windfall to all shareholders .

Yesterdays buyback was 294 lots at  $17.43 .

Last 5 trading session closing was 16.64 , 16.57, 16.79, 16.85 , 17.55
5 sessions average $16.88
5% above ave = $17.72

Any buybacks today must not be higher $17.72

Lets see if OCBC still do buyback today .

For the fun of it .  smiley

At the rate the OCBC is rising ( 3% today alone ) , very soon it will hit the threshold of 5% where they are no longer allowed to do buybacks .

I estimate the figure to be around $17.50 .

ATH today of $17.10 at time of writing .

OCBC conducted share buybacks of around 300 lots daily since the beginning of this new year .

Like DBS , they are buying back despite the ATH prices .

Unlike DBS , they are not buying back for cancellation as a form of returning capital to shareholders . From what I understand from their AGM 2 years ago , they do buybacks regularly primarily to reward their staff as share options .

I am fine with that , though .

Long overdue for UOB to play catchup to his big brother DBS. The gap is getting wider n wider n more importantly OCBC is the most laggard of the 3 bank stocks. It has even more catching up to do...

Buy the SGX listed Soc Gen DLCs for leveraged returns.
Very precise market making.
DLCs are different from overpriced covered warrants

OCBC already owned 93% of GE , so if you hold OCBC shares you already indirectly own GE .

If OCBC distributes GE shares to shareholders , the book value of OCBC will be reduced accordingly and OCBC share price will be reduced as a result .

So the OCBC shareholder will own GE shares directly , but his OCBC share price will also be reduced as well .

Most likely it wont be a zero sum game , the shareholders total holdings ( OCBC + GE ) will most probably increase , but I dont think it will be a situation where you can huat .

My presumptions only .
