Parent Koh Brothers has some serious surprise hidden gem like the Koracle - Korean beauty/health business. You know they do aethestic treatment like facial black marks removal, laser treatment etc. Many doctors make zillions in Singapore going into Aesthetic. They give up their regaular practice just to do that. Super lucrative !

Just4win      ( Date: 06-Apr-2017 15:42) Posted:

It seems that the interest has slowly started to extend to the parent co as well.

Normal lah. Chng Kay always likes to put up a wall at round number. Last time they blocked at 10. Then yesterday at closing it banged through, so they covered like mad on market open today.

A lot of times, on breakout, SGX will query. I am thinking the folks at SGX also want to know why, because they themselves don' t want to miss theboat. They are investors too, aren' t they?

I quite agree with your assessment. Just dont know how to guess the ultimate target price.

However, once some analysts start covering this, more buying will come in. So just wait patiently for this to unfold.

i think when playing with breakouts, one must consider the strength of it. strong breakouts rarely give pause and have very minor retracements (best world, AEM, Chasen, etc), whereas weak breakouts give buyers a chance to enter at dips and during sideways consolidation phases.

i personally think what gives a breakout ' strength' is the degree of ' value differential' and ' publicity' . For Best World and AEM, their fundamental value was obviously much higher than what their share price warranted, and once a critical mass of publicity occurred, the ensuing breakout was very strong. For Chasen, the breakout was due to the announcement of the China specialist relocation projects, which if one took the time to do the math (i was too lazy to do it and missed the boat), spelled a tremendous earnings increase for Chasen in FY 2017. The other part if ' publicity' , which is how well-known a share is. When an undervalued share reaches a critical mass of ' publicity' , people quickly take notice and buy it up.

For Koh Eco, the ' value differential' is still pretty deep imo, which is why i decided to average up at 1.23. My own target price for Koh Eco is roughly 18cents. Based on the tremendous volume today, we can safely say that the ' publicity' around Koh Eco is already quite high. Buy or sell depends on how much you think the ' value differential' is, and consequently how strong you think the breakout is (and as the share moves towards its intrinsic value, the breakout will generally lose strength as the value differential decreases)

You might want to take a look at its parent Koh Brothers instead. That thing is trading at 0.4 times stated book value. But if you reval the book based on the value of its 65% subsidiary Koh Eco now, it is trading WAY LESS THAN 0.4 times book.
