RHB on Monday upgraded supermarket operator Sheng Siong to " trading buy" , with a raised target price of S$1.95 from S$1.70.
This comes as Singapore' s multi-ministry taskforce announced further measures and restrictions under Phase Two (Heightened Alert), which prohibits mask-off activities and dining-in at food and beverage outlets.
RHB said the tightened restrictions should result in a pick-up in grocery-shopping activities and benefit Sheng Siong, as demand for food delivery and groceries should spike.
The research team expects sales to climb again in the May-June period. If the spread of Covid-19 does not taper down, containment measures may be extended.

RHB has also raised its forecast for Sheng Siong' s FY2021 profit after tax and minority interests by 14.5 per cent. The research team' s S$1.95 target price is pegged at 23 times its forecast FY2021 earnings

Last peak was in August 2020 at $1.85.
Will Singapore be worse hit than 2020?
Will Singapore be worse hit than 2020?
I' ve always been hesitant to invest Sheng Siong.  Always felt that it' s very traditionally run family business as if it' s like a Chinese dynasty.  Like after this old CEO dies, he will want someone related to him to takeover.  Don' t really feel good about it.  Also the supermarket industry is already so dominated by NTUC, just wondering how much more can Sheng Siong expand?  Can it also eat up Dairy Farm' s market share of atas consumers?

If new cluster forms, then high chance share price will take a hit.

1. Singapore is not just about Sheng Siong.
2. There are NTUC , COLD S, GIANT, HONG MAO, and many other new supermarkets neighborhoid "start ups " creating more direct competition to Sheng Siong.
3. While i canmot deny SS boss is ultra generous to his staff in bonuses etc, i thinnk he should do likewise to his shareholders in terms of "generous dividends" as well.
I think SS had reached its" peak plateau ". Wont chase.
When i was 60 to 90 cts , was ok to chase.

Sheng Siong jumps 11.3% on F& B curbs aviation stocks slide

SHARES of Sheng Siong surged by 11.3 per cent on Friday after Singapore' s multi-ministry task force (MTF) announced tighter restrictions on food and beverage (F& B) operators.

Sheng Siong, which operates supermarkets, saw its shares jump to an intraday high of S$1.67 within half an hour of the MTF announcement. The counter was up 11.3 per cent or S$0.17 as at 1.30pm, with 25.5 million shares changing hands.

Starting Sunday, people will only be allowed to gather in groups of two instead of five.

Activities that allowed for the removal of masks, such as dining-in at F& B establishments, will be ceased. Both indoor and outdoor F& B establishments, including hawker centres and food courts, will be able to offer only takeaway and delivery options.

The government will raise its wage support for F& B establishments to 50 per cent, up from 10 per cent.

Travel-related stocks tumbled during the afternoon trade after it was announced that the planned air travel bubble (ATB) between Singapore and Hong Kong that was due to start on May 26 may be delayed further as it' s likely that the Republic would not be able to meet the criteria for the ATB to carry on.

This could be the second postponement of the ATB. It was deferred last November following a spike in infections in Hong Kong.

Among aviation counters, SIA Engineering lost 8.8 per cent or S$0.19 to S$1.97, SATS dropped 6.5 per cent or S$0.25 to S$3.59, while national carrier Singapore Airlines tumbled 6.3 per cent or S$0.30 to S$4.47 as at 1.49pm.

Other than F& B sector-related curbs, capacity limits for events, attractions, shopping malls and libraries will also be reduced. Wedding receptions will also not be allowed, while congregational and other worship services will see a reduction in attendees allowed at any one time.

Transport operator ComfortDelGro was trading 4.3 per cent or S$0.07 lower at S$1.56, while integrated resort operator Genting Singapore declined 4.3 per cent or 3.5 Singapore cents to 77.5 cents.

On the other hand, some suppliers of gloves and personal protective equipment (PPE) saw an uptick in their shares. Medtecs International, which manufactures PPE, gained 4.8 per cent or 4.5 Singapore cents to 99 cents.
There are 2-3 more stocks that will benefit from the CB 2.0

No dining in, social gatherings capped at 2 people from May 16 as S' pore tightens Covid-19 rules
1 HOUR AGO
SINGAPORE - People will be allowed out in groups of only two from this Sunday (May 16) until June 13, with dining-in prohibited as Singapore tightens its Covid-19 restrictions to stamp out the spread of cases in the community.
Households will also  not be allowed to receive more than two distinct visitors per day.  Individuals should continue to cap their social gatherings at two a day as well.
Eateries and hawker centres will offer only takeaway and delivery during this period to reduce the risk of transmission, due to the higher risk posed by customers in close proximity and dining in for prolonged period with their masks off, said the Ministry of Health (MOH) on Friday.
Working from home will once again be the default for workplaces, and employers have to ensure that staff who can work from home do so.
Speaking at a virtual press conference, Education Minister Lawrence Wong said the stricter measures are needed because many members of the public would have visited Changi Airport in the last few weeks, with some subsequently becoming infected.
The concern is that there may be hidden cases that have leaked out into the community, added the multi-ministry task force co-chair, noting that unlinked cases have also gone up.
There are  currently 46 cases in the Changi Airport cluster,  making it the largest of Singapore' s 11 active clusters.
MOH said it will allow families' current childcare arrangements to continue, grandchildren being cared for by their grandparents on a daily basis will not be counted towards the two-visitor cap. However, grandparents are strongly encouraged to get vaccinated against Covid-19, and minimise mingling among grandchildren from different households.
Apart from the prohibition on dining in, other activities that will no longer be allowed include strenuous indoor exercise classes and sports, as well as personalised services such as facials that require masks to be removed.
Singing and the playing of instruments such as wind or brass instruments will also not be allowed.
Other tighter restrictions include:
- Weddings receptions will not be allowed, although solemnisations may continue for up to 100 people with pre-event testing in place, or 50 people with no testing.
- Congregational and other worship services can continue with a lower cap of 50 people at any one time. The limit goes up to 100 attendees if pre-event testing is implemented.
- Occupancy limits for malls and showrooms will be further reduced from the current limit of 10 sq m per person of gross floor area, to 16 sq m per person.
- All attractions that received prior approval to operate at 50 per cent of their operating capacity will have to reduce this to 25 per cent.
- Indoor and outdoor shows are allowed to continue for up to 50 people, with the cap going up to 100 people if pre-event testing is implemented.
- Museums and public libraries will operate at a reduced capacity of 25 per cent.
- Up to 100 people may be allowed into cinema halls with pre-event testing, or up to 50 people  if no testing is in place. The cap of two people per group applies, and food and drinks cannot be sold or consumed in the cinema.
To speed up detection, everyone who sees a doctor with signs of an acute respiratory infection will also have to undergo an antigen rapid test. This is in addition to the slower but more accurate polymerase chain reaction test.
This testing regime will be rolled out progressively, starting with around 200 public health preparedness clinics from Saturday.
Mr Wong urged people to follow the tightened measures and go out only for essential reasons.
He added: " We know this is a very difficult period for everyone this is clearly a setback in our fight against Covid-19. We are resolved to keep fellow Singaporeans safe and to see Singapore safely through this crisis. So let' s continue to stay united, support each other and do our very best."
