The higher revenue was thanks to higher sales from its manufacturing business and new revenue streams from supply chain management services under Fu Yu Supply Chain Solutions Pte Ltd.

1QFY2022 gross profit increased 34.1% y-o-y to $11.4 million, with higher gross profit of $9.0 million from the group&rsquo s manufacturing business.

As at end-March, cash and bank balances stood at $68.4 million.

In addition to rebranding its manufacturing business and elevating its profile as an advanced solutions provider, Fu Yu also plans to plans to drive business development and expand the breadth of services for its manufacturing business.

Fu Yu Supply Chain Solutions will also continue to seek opportunities in commodities supply chain management services to generate additional revenue streams, while assessing avenues to reap potential cost savings in the procurement and logistics management of raw materials for the Group&rsquo s manufacturing business.

Why you only quote dividends. Never emphasise diwngraded

With the board keen to enhance Fu Yu Corp?s capital structure and has already declared a higher interim dividend and further special dividend for 1HFY2021, Seet expects total dividend per share (DPS) for FY2021 to be raised to 4.7 cents from 1.6 cents a year ago. ?This represents a very attractive yield of 16.5%. We expect management to continue rewarding shareholders with excess cash flow not needed by the business.?

Semiconductor segment outperformance will continue

The lack of chips and parts across the supply chain will continue supporting the outperformance of the semiconductor segment, says RHB Group Research analyst Jarick Seet.

In a note, Seet says the planned construction of about 29 new fabrication facilities in the next few years should ensure high demand for equipment.

" However, as the overall performance of the technology stocks under our coverage is only at an acceptable level, we remain ' neutral' on the sector but maintain selectively positive on the semiconductor supply chain beneficiaries," says Seet.

As the industry pushes to address the global chip shortage, the equipment spending for the 29 fabrication plants is likely to surpass US$140 billion over the next few years, according to the semiconductor trade association SEMI.

Of the 29, 19 have already started construction while the remaining 10 will likely break ground in 2022. 15 of the 29 fabrication plants starting construction in 2021 and 2022 are foundry facilities with capacities ranging from 30,000 to 220,000 wafers per month.

The memory sector will begin construction on four fabrication plants over the two-year span, boasting higher capacities ranging from 100,000 to 400,000 wafers per month, says Seet.

RHB' s top picks include Frencken Group, which continues to take in large orders from the medical industry on items related to imaging as well as other scanning-related equipment.

" Its clients have also reduced their number of go-to parts manufacturers and are making bigger orders from their remaining suppliers. As such, the group is set to see a ramp-up in orders this year," says Seet.

He notes that Frencken' s management also remains bullish on the semiconductor segment, as all industries that use its chips are expected to grow strongly in FY21.

" With its new acquisition, it may possibly ramp up revenue contribution in the next few years from one of its customers, which is a large semiconductor player based in the US but has operations in Singapore."

Seet maintains " buy" on Frencken, with a target price of $2.55.

RHB is also bullish on manufacturers such as Fu Yu Corp and Venture Corp. Aside from diversifying into the business of supply chain management for commodities, Fu Yu is also expected to do more joint ventures or acquisitions, while still rewarding shareholders with attractive dividends.

RHB remains upbeat on the prospects of Fu Yu, maintaining its " buy" call with a target price of 37 cents.

Meanwhile, Seet expects Venture' s subsequent quarters to continue improving with better profitability and margins, coming from new platforms of next-generation devices and strong demand across the majority of its segments.

RHB kept its " buy" call for Ventures with a target price of $23.

Fu Yu Corp' s special dividend in 1H21 is ' key highlight' in 1H21 results

CGS-CIMB analyst William Tng has reiterated his " add" call on Fu Yu Corporation with a lower target price of 33 cents from 35.5 cents.

The reduction comes as his Gordon Growth-derived price-to-book value (P/BV) rises to 1.59 times from 1.49 times before on FY2021 BV/share.

That said, Tng has raised his earnings per share (EPS) estimates for the FY2021 to FY2023 by 2.1-8.2% on the back of the company' s higher net profit.

For the 1HFY2021 ended June, Fu Yu Corporation saw net profit increase by 20.1% y-o-y to $8.9 million.

Revenue, on the other hand, fell 1.7% y-o-y to $70.4 million.

A key highlight in Fu Yu' s 1HFY2021 results was its special dividend of 3.30 cents, and the increase in its interim dividend to 40 cents from 35 cents in the 1HFY2020.

The higher dividend makes the counter the highest dividend-yielding stock under the brokerage' s coverage for the FY2021, says Tng.

" Going forward, capital allocation will be influenced by capex needs (Fu Yu' s new plant at No. 9 Tuas Drive is due to be completed end-2021) and capital to grow the Avantgarde Enterprise (AGE) business organically and via joint ventures/partnerships/strategic alliances with third parties," he writes in an Aug 24 report.

On July 28, Fu Yu completed its maiden acquisition of a 100% stake in AGE for a consideration of $6.05 million.

" We understand that Fu Yu hopes to lower the purchasing cost of its key raw material (resins) with direct purchase via AGE. We also believe that Fu Yu could gear up its balance sheet to grow this trading business," says Tng.

" Earnings accretion from the AGE acquisition is offset by a higher beta assumption to 0.89 (previously 0.77), given the riskier nature of financial trading activities. Downside risks are increased competition and worsening of the Covid-19 pandemic. Higher-than-expected earnings growth and further accretive acquisitions are possible re-rating catalysts."

Shares in Fu Yu closed flat at 29 cents, representing an FY2021 P/B of 1.58 times and dividend yield of 15.2%, according to CGS-CIMB' s estimates.

Surprised Fu Yu has hardly moved despite declaring 3.7 cents of dividends yesterday .In fact at 0.32 now, the move up from yesterday is lower than the declared dividends. Is there something in background retail investors are not aware of?

Fu Yu earnings up by a fifth, plans special dividend of 3.3 cents per share

Manufacturer Fu Yu Corp has reported revenue of $70.4 million for 1HFY2021, down 1.7% y-o-y, as the drop of its sales in China offset gains in Singapore and Malaysia.

However, earnings for the same period increased by 20.1% y-o-y to $8.86 million.

The company plans to pay an interim dividend of 0.4 cent per share, and a special dividend of 3.3 cents. In contrast, it paid just 0.35 cents this time last year.

In Jan this year, Pilgrim Partners, managing a variable capital company 85% owned by one Wang Shao Ren (Wang Shaoren) @ Ong Shao Jin, paid $58.3 million, or 26 cents per share, to let a group of Fu Yu founders cash out. The fund now holds around 224. 4 million shares, or 29.8% of the company.

The total planned payout of 3.7 cents means Pilgrim will gain around $8.3 million.

This current 2HFY2021 will remain challenging, the company notes, as the pandemic goes on and competition remains intense.

Fu Yu will ensure " resilience" and " stability" by maintaining a diversified customer mix and product portfolio, and to also keep a close eye on cost.

The company recently acquired a supply chain management company Avantgarde Enterprise in a bid to diversify its business beyond just manufacturing.

Fu Yu shares closed Aug 11 at 30 cents, down 1.67% for the day and up 9.26% year to date.
