What do you expect from a company' s whose CEO decided to abandon ship when the lapses were first detected last year?
She must be praying for her last day to quickly come before more lapses are discovered.
MOE audit started in August 2023 for info

27 Oct 2023 annouement.
The Board of Directors (the " Board" ) of Cordlife Group Limited (the " Company" and together with its subsidiaries, the " Group" ) wishes to announce the resignation of Ms Tan Poh Lan (" Ms Tan" ) as an Executive Director and the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Company. The Ministry of Health (MOH) has found more lapses at cord-blood bank Cordlife Group. These are on top of the already-announced instances when its storage tanks exceeded acceptable temperatures.

In a statement on Tuesday (Jan 23), Cordlife said MOH found three other process lapses:
A new cord-blood processing method, implemented in August 2023, was not properly validated according to approved plan and protocol
The company?s temperature monitoring system failed to send notifications when temperatures in certain tanks exceeded acceptable levels between February and June 2022 and
Six-monthly preventative maintenance was not carried out for two tanks in 2022.
Cordlife was issued a suspension notice on Nov 30, 2023, after MOH investigations found seven of the group?s 22 cord-blood storage tanks had recorded temperatures above acceptable limits.

On Jan 22, MOH followed up with a letter listing other potential areas of non-compliance with the Healthcare Services (General) Regulations and the Healthcare Services (Cord Blood Banking Services) Regulations.

MOH highlighted the cord-blood bank?s ineffective incident reporting frameworks, inadequate training and competence of staff, and the inappropriate storage of cord-blood units.

?The company has been informed that it is required to rectify the potential non-compliances by May 31, 2024,? said Cordlife, adding that it will work closely with MOH to ensure all identified issues are rectified by the deadline.

CORDLIFE GROUP LIMITED (Company Registration No.: 200102883E) (Incorporated in the Republic of Singapore)

RECEIPT OF LETTER FROM THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH

The Board of Directors of Cordlife Group Limited (the " Company" ) refers to its announcements dated 30 November 2023, 13 December 2023 and 15 December 2023 (collectively, the " Announcements" ) relating to, among others: (a) the issuance of a notice from the Ministry of Health (" MOH" ) to stop for a period up to six months, the collection, testing, processing and/or storage of any new cord blood and human tissues, or the provision of any new types of tests to patients (the " Notice" ) (b) the Company' s acceptance of the contents of the Notice and (c) the letter from the MOH directing the Company to give effect to the contents of the Notice. With reference to the above and inspections conducted by the MOH in November 2023 and December 2023 in connection with the Notice, the Company has on 22 January 2024 received a letter from the MOH providing a list of the potential areas of non-compliance with the Healthcare Services (General) Regulations and the Healthcare Services (Cord Blood Banking Services) Regulations (" Potential NonCompliances" ) that the MOH has identified based on its inspections. As stated in the MOH' s press release dated 30 November 2023 titled " Investigation of Cordlife Group Limited for Suboptimal Storage Temperature for Cryopreserved Cord Blood" , in addition to the temperature excursions in the tanks (which was previously disclosed in the Announcements), the MOH had found the following process lapses at the Company: (i) the Company' s temperature monitoring system failed to send notifications of the temperature excursions in certain tanks to the Company&rsquo s personnel between February and June 2022 (ii) the Company' s six-monthly preventative maintenance was not carried out for two tanks in 2022 and (iii) the Company implemented a new cord blood processing method in August 2023, which was not properly validated according to approved plan and protocol. In addition to the above, other Potential Non-Compliances set out in the MOH' s letter include, among others, ineffective incident reporting frameworks, inadequate training and competence of staff, and the inappropriate storage of cord blood units. The Company has been informed that it is required to rectify the Potential Non-Compliances (including the circumstances which had led to the Potential Non-Compliances) by 31 May 2024. The Company will continue to work closely with the MOH to ensure that all identified Potential NonCompliances are rectified by the requisite deadline. The Company will also continue to comply with all other statutory requirements, including those found under the Healthcare Services Act 2020 and its subsidiary legislations, as well as the licensing conditions issued to the Company in relation to its licensable healthcare services. The Company will update its shareholders and the investing public, if there are any material developments in relation to the above, in accordance with the requirements of the SGX-ST listing rules.

Cordlife to send all affected tanks&rsquo samples to third-party lab by Thursday testing takes 3 to 6 weeks

CORDLIFE Group will send the cord-blood samples from all affected tanks to a third-party laboratory by Thursday (Jan 18). Seven of its 22 cord-blood storage tanks had earlier been found to be kept at temperatures above acceptable limits by the Ministry of Health (MOH).

The testing of each sample batch may take three to six weeks to be completed, depending on whether a repeat test of samples from the same tank is needed, said the private cord-blood bank in a bourse filing on Wednesday.

&ldquo Since the end of December 2023, the company has started sending donated cord-blood samples from the affected tanks under investigation to a third-party laboratory in Singapore licensed by MOH for testing in batches,&rdquo said the company, which received a suspension notice by MOH at the end of November.

&ldquo To date, donated cord-blood samples from five tanks have been sent and the company aims to complete the sending of samples from all the affected tanks by Jan 18, 2024.&rdquo

It added that samples from the remaining unaffected tanks will also undergo testing in due course, and affected clients will be notified as soon as their relevant test results are available.

The company also responded to a recent article by The Business Times that the information on the temperature excursions between November 2020 and July 2022 was obtained mainly from the Laboratory Environment Monitoring Alarm System, instead of tank controller temperature data as reported.

It added: &ldquo The tank controller temperature data is mainly used to support the findings that tank temperatures are within the acceptable range for certain affected tanks.&rdquo

The article on Monday highlighted that one of its storage tanks had hit a temperature as high as 20.4 degrees Celsius in 2021, way above international standards and the company&rsquo s internal acceptable range.

The company noted that as investigations are ongoing, it is unable to comment further on the contents of the article.

Perhaps my answer needs further clarification.

What I care about as a customer is that, should I need it, the company is able to provide me the suitable blood for my purposes.

This does not necessarily need to be the blood that I have banked, because the company has committed to providing me with alternative blood should the need arise, if the blood that I banked is somehow not viable. But for the company to fulfill this obligation it still needs to be standing at that point.

Actually at this point in time I am a customer (cord blood) but not a shareholder (luckily I sold near the peak during the bid speculation period).

I do care about breaches because it weakens the prospect of the company giving me the blood that I need. But ultimately I don' t want the company to shut down otherwise it cannot deliver me the promised blood.

Your point about alternatives makes me think you don' t really get the point of being a customer.

I think this question is difficult to answer until one actually hears back from them. I don' t know what assurances or tests they may give, so I cannot make a judgement on how much confidence I have in their response until I receive it.

One observation I would make is that, given the public and regulatory scrutiny on the company at present, I imagine they would be very careful in making sure what they communicated at this point was accurate. But you would have to take your own view.

I think they said they were going to reach out to those customers who are affected. Insofar as that is the case and they have not reached out to you I hope for you that that is good news.

To clarify your questions though more definitvely you should get in touch with them direct.

How to confirm the condition/viability of the stem cells stored with them now?

How do I know for sure is my stored stem cells are not affected?

Is there any test I can request for them to do to verify?
