This counter is a special situation stock because the SSH has cornered most of the shares, resigned from the company.   The market is awaiting some fresh change, what it is contributes to the uncertainty.   Hence, it is no surprise that the counter did not move for sometime as people cannot figure out what the SSH is going to do next.
The price creeping up is not an indication of any good news, rather, there are some who are just nibbling, testing the water.   We really do not know what will happen next.     I thought at first, there' s going to be a delisting coming, but the SSH has suddenly gone quiet, been watching this stock like an eagle.

I found that most stock threads that are dead or half dead are quality stocks. Such threads indicate real investors rather than traders are interested in that stock. Just look at OCBC, DBS, UOB, City Dev threads.

Conversely, busy threads are mostly populated by day-traders  who profit from high volatility, stock rumours, sinking counters, churning counters by executing frequent buying, selling and shorting.   Look at Noble, Ezion, Best World, Rowsley threads.

Investors are best served by quiet threads. Day-traders will feel most at home in hot threads.

There are always short term punters who' ll take profit. But guocoland has limited shares available for trading, as majority of the shares hv been bought by the major shareholders. Be patient, all of you here who are vested in guocoland. Profits started to pick up and run as reflected in their 90% jump in net profits as at June 2017. We can collect 7c dividents, and wait for TPC to TOP in the coming few months. Brisk sale of the new launch Martin Modern also helps the next qtr earnings.

The share price has moved up from$1.80+ pre-annual report. So time for profit taking to set in,  given the 20% rise.

Huge profits plus 7c dividends but the stock price went up a measely 1c?
Many investors fail to see value when even when it' s staring at their faces. Instead they keep piling into bottomless sink-holes such as Noble and Ezion, just like the fairy tale of the Pied Piper of Hamelin. Lol.

GuocoLand' s Q4 net profit surges S$205m to S$244.8m

PROPERTY developer GuocoLand Limited' s net profit for its fourth quarter leapt S$205 million to S$244.8 million from the preceding year, the group said in a Singapore Exchange filing on Sunday morning.

For the three months ended June 30, revenue surged 89.9 per cent to S$407.4 million from the previous year. The gain in revenue was due to higher sales and progressive revenue recognition from Singapore' s residential projects as compared to the previous corresponding quarter, it said.

The lower profit recorded was mainly due to a decrease in other income to $318.2 million in FY2017 as a one-time gain from the disposal of subsidiaries relating to the Dongzhimen project in Beijing was recognised in FY2016. The decrease was partially offset by fair value gains from investment properties of $254.5 million, which was largely due to Tanjong Pagar Centre&rsquo s Guoco Tower.

7 cents divend, not bad.

Maybank Kim Eng initiated coverage today with target price of 2.75

Riding the Singapore Upcycle

We initiate coverage on under-researched GuocoLand at BUY and SGD2.75 TP, implying a 22% discount to RNAV of SGD3.55. We believe its small free float, lower trading liquidity and limited analyst coverage are technical reasons for the underperformance and steeper valuation discount when compared to its larger peers. Fundamentally, we see a company with improving financials and attractive valuations. The stock trades at a 44% RNAV discount and 0.67x P/BV.
