Dow futures improved from negative to positive and up 18 points now.
DBS Bid 16.33 Ask 16.34
Totally agree. With the whole economy gloomy and no updated news from DBS, the price will keep going down. With reference to 2011, the price only picked up early to mid of October. And if the whole foundation of economy is not resolved (oil price sliding down, Greek debt, China bubble burst...) we might be in the same scenario as 2008, when the stock slowly slides further until January.

$40 billion wiped off Aussie share market
As concerns about China' s economy sparks a global sell-off, the Australian share market has plunged.
Bank shares ave -3.5% to -377% downed
Shorts can only make money if they create panic and then can buy back shares shorted at a lower price from LT sellers who are drawn out to sell their holdings. I noticed that shorts had been active in shorting DBS fm $21 till now. Funds are also not loading the share and some may even be the sellers, due to poor sentiment and weak overseas mkts. It is just a trading mkt now and doesn' t seem to be the right time to buy for LT till some certainty return to the mkts.   jmho

not wrong, there'll b short covering final hr. b4 further downtrend tmr.
The way this DBS is being sold down it' s as if it' s going bankrupt.  Are we so defenseless .... just laid bare to be ........ ?  I' m not vested.  But it' s certainly a worry the way the share px of such a solid local banking institution is tumbling.

DBS Bank announced today that it has been named &ldquo Safest Bank in Asia&rdquo for the seventh consecutive year by leading trade publication Global Finance. The bank also moved up one place to the 11th spot on the global list of safest banks.
DBS retained its 2nd place position on the list of World&rsquo s Safest Commercial Banks, which comprises financial institutions which are not backed by government guarantees. &ldquo The past year has been a rollercoaster for companies and investors, as some of the region&rsquo s biggest markets have seen intense volatility and major market changes,&rdquo said Joseph Giarraputo, publisher and editorial director of Global Finance.
&ldquo Geopolitical risk continues to be a concern in regions as diverse as Europe, the Middle East and Asia. This ranking offers companies and investors an objective tool for evaluating the stability and security of the world&rsquo s banks&mdash both globally and by region,&rdquo Giarraputo notes.
Piyush Gupta, CEO of DBS Bank said, &ldquo DBS is honoured to be recognised as the safest bank in Asia for the seventh year running. This year has been marked by slowing growth across the region, and intense market volatility. Despite that, our first-half net profit reached a record high. Topping the Global Finance ranking is testament to the resilience of the franchise, and the strong governance and risk management processes underpinning our business.&rdquo
Since 1992, the ranking has been a recognised standard of creditworthiness for the financial world. The banks were selected through an evaluation of long-term credit ratings &ndash from Moody&rsquo s, Standard & Poor&rsquo s and Fitch Ratings &ndash and total assets of the 500 largest banks worldwide.
DBS&rsquo in-depth knowledge of Asian markets, innovative products, high credit ratings and strong balance sheet have positioned the bank well to grow and capture opportunities in the region. DBS delivered record net profit of SGD 2.39 billion for the first half of 2015. Excluding a one-time gain, net profit rose 12% to SGD 2.25 billion.

[HONG KONG] Postal Savings Bank of China Co, which has the most outlets of any lender in the nation, is nearing an agreement to raise more than US$6.5 billion from investors including UBS Group AG and  Temasek Holdings Pte ahead of a planned initial public offering, people familiar with the matter said.
UBS is seeking to invest about US$2.5 billion and may syndicate a significant portion of that stock to other investors, the people said, asking not to be identified before an announcement. Singapore' s DBS Group Holdings Ltd is buying about US$250 million of shares, while International Finance Corp and JPMorgan Chase & Co will also invest, the people said.
Postal Savings Bank is selling about a 15 per cent stake to outside investors, according to the people, as Chinese President Xi Jinping seeks to introduce more market discipline to state- owned enterprises.  Some foreign investors were attracted to the bank, which was set up in 2007, because of its relatively clean balance sheet with few legacy bad-loan issues, one of the people said.
The Beijing-based bank is still finalizing the allocations for the group of Chinese and domestic investors, one person said. It plans to make an announcement as soon as next week, and the total allocation could rise to US$7 billion or more as commitments come in, the people said.
Alibaba, Tencent Chinese investors include  Alibaba Group Holding Ltd' s financial affiliate,  Zhejiang Ant Small & Micro Financial Services Group Co, as well as China Life Insurance Co,  and Tencent Holdings Ltd, the people said. China Telecommunications Corp may also take a stake, pending approval from Postal Savings Bank, one of the people said. Spokesmen at those firms were either not reachable or couldn' t provide an immediate comment.
A press officer at Postal Savings Bank said she couldn' t immediately comment. Representatives for UBS, Temasek, DBS and JPMorgan declined to comment. A Washington-based representative for IFC didn' t immediately respond to a request for comment, while several calls and e-mails to IFC' s media team in Hong Kong and India went unanswered.
Postal Savings Bank' s bad-loan ratio stood at 0.64 per cent at the end of 2014, lower than any of China' s listed banks and the sector average of 1.5 per cent as of June 30. The bank said it has 478 million individual customers and close to 40,000 outlets nationwide.
The bank' s capital adequacy ratio was 9.56 per cent as of December. China' s banking regulator requires non-systemically important banks to have a minimum ratio of 10.5 per cent by the end of 2018.
It has attracted a significant deposit base from China' s vast rural population, which it uses as a low-cost source of funds for lending to small businesses and city commercial banks, according to one of the people.  The bank,  which is an arm of state-owned China Post Group Co, aims to work with some of the investors to help it build out businesses including investment banking, wealth management and micro-finance, the person said. It may sell shares in an overseas initial public offering as early as next year, the people said.
Postal Savings Bank and DBS in January agreed to set up a joint venture consumer finance company, with DBS investing 120 million yuan (US$18.8 million) for a 12 per cent stake.
indeed:)
