The short covering is strong with this one.
This week ComfortDelGro went up because SBS transit won the Seletar bus contract.
But according to a researcher the bid was below cost. How is that good?
"Transport researcher Lee Der-Horng from the National University of Singapore reckoned SBST's bid was "below cost" as it is able to "cross subsidise" because of its size. "I believe there will be fewer foreign bidders, or none, for future tenders," he said."

Grab is too aggressive...if they took over smrt taxi and cut the taxi start up fare from $3.90 to $1.90..comfort will be jialat....comfort say they got 100k calls in 10 days after launch of flat rate system..1 day 10k...they got 16 k taxi..so maybe 2 taxi only got 1 call per day ?? jialat..b4 the launch of just grab....lots of comfort taxi also benefit from grab taxi.....but now grab only focus on justgrab and comfort driver cannot join just grab.....so no eye see...last few years..comfort grow because of renew of fleet and new drivers.. rental for new taxi from $100 to $131 per day...the renewal will coming to the end soon ...and very few new taxi driver...and lots of taxi driver retire....so mgt..pls help ur poor taxi drivers..do somethings..like cut rental 30%...etc

A bit uncertain what will be the impact. Moreover, accordingly to report, Grab do not want to take in all the SMRT taxi drivers while SMRT is compelled by Temasek Holdings to sell. So nowhere close to a deal yet.
I see 3 possible senarios. It does seem slightly positive impact to Comfort rather than negative.
- Status quo- no impact to Comfort.
- SMRT sell and Grab take in all taxi drivers- more private cars hires and much less taxis
- SMRT sell and Grab only take in some taxi drivers- more private car hires and the other taxi drivers may move to other taxi companies.

SMRT may sell taxi biz to Grab. I think big impact to CDG.
comfort flat rate is killing their taxi drivers....at non peak hour...their rate is a few dollars higher than just grab......at peak hour....their rate is so low that taxi drivers rather go taxi stand to pick up pax...go meter better than flat rate .....lol

Local transport operator SBS Transit (SBST) has beaten eight rival bidders to clinch the third bus routes package put up by the Government for tender, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) announced on Wednesday (April 19). SBST&rsquo s bid for the five-year Seletar bus package was valued at S$480,332,472.00.
This is the 3rd and last package.
Anyone knows whether there is one or two dividend payout? Past year, the dividend paid in May and Aug. thanks.
it wont go beyong 2.7 I guess~ uber, grab... etc will keep on improving ~ unless Gov do soemthing to protect Comfort~

I had bad experience with just grab, some hidden cost being charged upon the agreed rate from the app, paid extra 80%..never trust grab apps anymore 8(
I think ComfortDelgro' s (CDG) flat fare approach is fair and reasonable. This dynamic pricing by JustGrab - charging commuters through the roof during peak period is highly undesirable and unethical. Investors are cheering CDG, price up strongly to $2.63, with more upside in the coming weeks
Many companies have Uber corporate account, can use worldwide.

SIA has convincingly lost the premium market to the Middle Eastern airlines.   Only their premium pricing remains but not their services.   I wont fly SIA cos you may end up paying premium price but they give you a partner airline seat of lower quality.   Might as well buy direct from the partner airline.

I think it is different from big airline vs budget. Budget airline compete on cost. But Grab provide better service.

apps co  assualt  effect can be seen from
big airlines versus low cost one.
also a bit like managed shopping centre versus neighbourhoon shops. one is collective management, one is each individaul do your own. shop owner suck and suck until one daywake up to find tennants all run to managed shopping centre.
if no changed then results quite obvious

think comfort start using flat rate liao....nothings interesting..if no discount...i rather go for grab taxis..got $7 off....heard comfort waive off driver booking fees charge recently...30c nia..make no big diff...lesser calls nowadays...prime taxi now offer 7days off rental per month....
That's why gov would not stop Grab and Uber.

total COE revenue increases when new competitors add more taxis to the market. As a whole . the total taxation revenue increases for taxi transportation.
