The Temasek imposed silence is expected leading to the announcement. That silence has now spreaded to KC.
Can imagine a fierce negotiation going on between KC and Temasek.
KC wants more for the partial sales of Keppel O M while Temasek, stingy as usual, is trying to talk down the price.
If SMM starts talking about the offshore recovery now, KC will try to ask for more.
I am expecting an announcement by the end of the month. Let' s see.

If I am KC, the lowest price I would accept for the partial sales of Keppel O M would be book value. Anything lower, I might as well hang on til the offshore recovery.
KC is likely asking for 1.5 x book value. I believe the deal would be done at between 1 to 1.5 x BV.
If done at BV, SMM would be valued at about 30 cents. If done at 1.5 x BV, SMM would be valued at around 45 cents.
Let' s see.

I agree. It' s already estimated SMM can survive at least 2 years with the rights money.
With all the project delays in 2020, 2021 probably will be ok at least. But after the 1.9B projects, what is next? Next year " drink north west wind" ? I don' t think so and certainly hope not. So just wondering why so quiet ...

The implication of this news is that SMM got the cash/ resourcres to renew its fleet with State of art units. (to earn more passive income and government incentives for green projects).
Hardly sound like a company in financial duress as what the share price is telling us.

The implication of this news is that SMM got the cash/ resourcres to renew its fleet with State of art units. (to earn more passive income and government incentives for green projects).
Hardly sound like a company in financial duress as what the share price is telling us.

World' s First LNG-hybrid Tug Will Run mtu Gas Engines
January 18, 2021
The new engines are part of Rolls-Royce' s Green and High-Tech program. Without exhaust gas aftertreatment they emit no sulfur oxides.
A new liquefied natural gas (LNG)-hybrid tug&mdash said to be the world' s first&mdash will be equipped with two mtu 16V 4000 M55RN gas engines from manufacturer Rolls-Royce.
The harbor tug will be built by Sembcorp Marine Integrated Yard and operated in Singapore by Jurong Marine Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of Sembcorp Marine. The new LNG-hybrid tug is the first of 12 tugs that Sembcorp Marine plans to design and build to replace the existing diesel-powered ones between now and 2025.
LNG as a fuel virtually eliminates sulphur oxide emissions, while the Maritime Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) is also incentivizing its use to support the International Maritime Organization&rsquo s aims to halve ship CO2 emissions by 2050.
This is the first LNG-hybrid tug to be powered by mtu gas engines worldwide. Designed by LMG Marin (Norway), part of the Sembcorp Marine group, to deliver 65T Bollard Pull (BP) with ABS Class, the LNG-hybrid tug is estimated to be completed in the later part of 2021.

Good for SMM to consolidate now before the surge. The singapore govt will not let SMM, SIA and Kep Corp die. They may be in for a rough time now because of covid. But they are strategic to Singapore. SDingapore govt learns a bitter lesson to let NOL die. That was a silly and stupid decision. Govt will not repeat that stupid decision by letting SMM die. So any price below 20c is good to buy.
