SINGAPORE (June 4): Sembcorp Industries is in &ldquo preliminary&rdquo talks with 1Malaysia Development Bhd on a possible acquisition of the government-owned strategic development fund&rsquo s wholly-owned subsidiary Edra Global Energy.

&ldquo This is really very preliminary. I can&rsquo t say whether we are keen or not. It is one of those deals that we explore on a regular basis,&rdquo a company source says, adding that it was a surprise that news of the talks had leaked out at such an early stage.

The Edge Financial Daily reported today that Sembcorp joins IJM Corp and Tenaga Nasional as contenders for Edra Global which has an enterprise value of as much as RM18 billion ($6.56 billion).

Sembcorp is down 5 cents at $4 as at 10:14 a.m.

 

Agree. Let's go in when the trend is much clear. Don't be hurt by a falling knife. I am already wounded for years. :)

 

Agreed.  BV is 3.30 and currently at 1.20 P/BV. near its historical PE of 9 times.
Certainly at current price Semb corp see value for those with a longer view. Not forgeting a dividend yield of 4% .

n3wbie      ( Date: 07-Jun-2015 22:33) Posted: personally I find SembCorp Industries more favourable when compared to Keppel Corp even though both entities have the negative exposure rigs' businesses. while they are affected by the current cyclical downturn, Keppel Corp is further affected by another major business segment, the property business which also remains in the lower end of the industry' s cycle. SembCorp Industries is at least mitigated by its recurring businesses in utilities which makes the group more resilient, just my personal thoughts.  TA wise - SembCorp Industries looks attractive but given that it had just breached 52wk low and failed to find support at $4, might wait for a clearer indication of where the group is trading before putting my money in.

  I also know ! 1.80 even cheaper to collect but will this happen ? Wait long long or neck long long ?

[SINGAPORE] Energy, water and marine group Sembcorp Industries has launched a benchmark-sized offering of SGD subordinated perpetual non-call five securities.

Pricing on the unrated notes is indicated to yield in the 5 per cent area. The coupon would step up 100bp in year 10 if not called.

There is a reset in year 10, based on the prevailing 10-year SOR plus the initial spread, and resets every 10 years thereafter.

Deferred distributions are cumulative and compounding. There is a dividend stopper and pusher.

Credit Suisse, DBS, OCBC (B& D) and Standard Chartered are joint bookrunners.

The securities will come off Sembcorp' s S$2billion multicurrency debt-issuance programme.
