GRAB Inc and a unit of the Toyota Motor Corporation on Wednesday announced a collaboration targeted at Grab drivers, rather than towards users of the ride-sharing platform.
While the previously disclosed talks between Uber and ComfortDelGro, which operates Comfort and CityCab taxis, revolved around fleet vehicle management and booking software solutions, the collaboration between Grab and Toyota will focus on data analysis and data-sharing to give drivers improved access to connected car services in areas including insurance, financing, and vehicle maintenance.

Problem is uneven demand. During peak hour, not enough drivers. During off peak, excess.

I think many returning can't get passenger..after plying for 1 hr no customer .offer .rate only for newly recommend driver.i think many not happy.

Though they said the market already full, ppl who at punggol or CCK still difficult to get a cab during working hours. Take them 60-90 mins to get a ride....
The partnership with Uber, if just Singapore think not much impact, but if expand worldwide, eg manage Uber car fleet then would be a leap jump.
Since all your cars not able to rent out, Sell it off.
Since you not able to compete them, Join them.
Since you not able to join them , divert your biz towards others biz.
Since our land are filled with cars, Expand more on Inspection/testing/maintenance ctr.
Merge CD with Vicom.

Good news, Grab to invest $100m in Myanmar. So their warchest of $2b, left with $1.9b for Singapore :)
Nowaday, Taxi drivers, grab and Uber drivers all are finding difficult to get passengers because Singapore economic is not good, Not many passenger now compared to the months before. Young people above 20 can not drive taxi, so they drive grab or uber. But their got problems also. 1)they do not know where to park their vehicle when no passenger there. Many places having camera on the road, If they anyhow park the vehicle, they will get summon soon. If they park inside HDB or other carpark, they have to pay the parking fee. This is the main problem. 2) Can ask them to give you more about the problems
Taxi drivers nowaday mostly are old man, previously, they can earn little income that make them still driving taxi, But nowaday, they go round and round on the road still can not find the passeners. Many old drivers think it is not worthwile to drive taxi now so they return the taxi to the companies. May be LTA should consider allow young man to drive taxi also. I think jobless young man will be more welcome to hear about this news.

hai... my retirement plans to be a taxi driver also gone liao.
Sounds like all out war is about to happen in the taxi/phv arena.
First, budget airlines and middle eastern carriers squeezing margins in full service, then we have OPEC free flow of cheap oil decimating local deep water O& G rig/boat industry. Now its ride hailing app operators going all out war.
The pot of gold? 24/7/365 autonomous vehicles and the eventual zero-rising of driver benefits, salaries and commissions.

uber pay u 2500 just to refer someone to drive if they drive taxi.
