I don?t short . Bec the risk is higher . Naked short must clear within a day . Use cfd to short if one day I fall sick or in coma. Eg if I shorted Dbs . If I woke up few years later the share price will be up . I would have massive paper loss. We all know mkt will move up eventually.

Short sellers wanted the  circuit breaker to last much longer so that the market will crash. They will continue to make money as long as there is circuit breaker, lockdown, no vaccine, new second wave, etc.
They will continue to spread fear and negativities.
This is not wrong, just like they are on the other side of the camp, that' s all.
You must understand. Everyone in this forum has his/her agenda.

Yes, according to the leaked news, it will be starting next week unless we have sudden surge in community cases, then the phase 2 will be postponed.
If that is the case, more businesses will fold.
God saves Singapore.

You have a valid point, people are not going to " dine 5 meals per day at cafes" nor " drink 5 cupes of bubble tea per day" . But for people who do not usually dine at cafes nor drink bubble tea, there is an increased probability that they will do so.
Look at McDonalds for example, they closed for a period of time. And when they reopened, did you see how crazy the queues and orders were. Of course, that sudden surge in revenue would probably have not made up for the losses they faced when they were closed for that few weeks. But was the initial volume for the first few days/week of reopening at a much higher level than on an average day before they closed? I' m sure we all know the answer. That, is the pent up demand.
I agree with your points, but the situation is definitely not going to be as bad as you make it seem to be.

How long will be the demand pent up? People will dine 5 meals per day at cafes? Drink 5 cups of bubble tea per day? Even so, how long? It bullshit when u think of pent up demand. It may last so long and so much. It will not suddenly cause sales to spike up. Just that sales will be be at 80% of pre covid levels. I find it really stupid for people to keep saying pent up demand. Such demand is not likely to last for long at most 2 - 3 wks? When u go shopping, u buy a lot of stuff or already buy most of them online already? What pent up are u talking about? Even if u want to buy a tv before covid, u already intended to buy but defer ur purchase. So when phase 2 starts, u go buy tv. Will u buy 3 because of pent up demand or buy 1 as originally planned? Covid caused many purchases to be delayed or even vanished. It doesnt mean overall yearly purchases will increase.

Stay safe guys.

Ok I agree. But I hope next week students will not report any cases. Hard to keep them at home also. Tough call such a situation by our ministers.

All these talk of pent up demand is BS. Does it mean that u will travel for holidays twice a month when the lockdown is over? Ur company let u clear leave once lockdown lifted? Ur kids will have more sch holidays for u to bring them for holidays? Will u buy 2 or 3 houses or cars when virus is over?
The way i see it, demand for certain goods will come back like cars and housing. People may delay purchases during the lockdown as unable to view the cars / houses.
As to pent up demand for f&b, does it mean that one will drink bubble tea 5 times a day? Or eat 5 meals a day outside? Even if so, how long will this behaviour lasts? Or watch movie in cinema 5 times a week? One week? 2 week?
I only see 2 outcomes for businesses: those who sells goods that got delayed will get back those sales. This applies to businesses in property and cars
Those whose business are perishable like f&b, cinema and a lot of retails shops, hotels & airlines. the revenue is lost forever. Only business with strong cashflow will survive.

That case is a case of past infection. He is most likely infected sometimes ago. Not a recent infection.
