I agree with your first sentence. But they can only successfully privatise if they make an offer at a price at which enough shareholders are willing to sell at. It is easier to persuade people to sell when they are invested in some of these smaller SGX listed companies that don' t pay any dividend. For a company like starhub that pays a 5% dividend yield and has institutional investors its a much fairer fight, and the offeror will have to pay up in order to succeed.

Still think it is to the benefit of the major shareholder to take it private at current price while holding on to the potential of listing Ensign after that to get the maximum value. The price to take Starhub private is likely going to be less than 1.50 (reference from Keppel taking M1 private) and don't think they care if investors are making or losing money.

Your interests are inversely aligned to the offeror' s interests on the matter. As you prefer the IPO first they will prefer the take private first, because why would they want to share all the upside with everyone else?
I have no doubt that moving forward on Ensign will catalyze a lot of value for shareholders. Like many others I do increasingly wonder the order in which this will happen |

Taking it private, how much premium will they offer?
Anything less than $1.50, alot of investors might actually lose money just like M1
I prefer they IPO 1st |

| STT will be flushed with cash of $6.6B and they can easily take Starhub private with less than half of the sales of their GDC |

Hopefully Temasek is pushing STT to launch Ensign IPO and give everyone something to cheer about.
STI is flushed with money now...good time for IPO |

From the Edge - STT Telemedia is better known as the controlling shareholder of StarHub but over the years, it has also set up various telco-related ventures and also investments, at varying points in time, in mobile operators such as Indonesia's Indosat and Malaysia's U Mobile.
Take Starhub private and they can focus on Telecommunications 🤣 |

privatize at $2 lar
Agree! The PR stories have been churning over last one year but no action and impact to these talks.

time for another telco shake-up
Suspect it's just knee-jerk reaction from Singtel acquisition of ST Telemedia GDC and really nothing to with starhub unless ST Telemedia don't know how to spend the money and decided to take Starhub private since they already own majority of the shares (purely speculation here)

last and is happening. low interest rate. payment to long term loan is lesser and more cash flow to pay dividend. those money in bank or FD will buy stock like starhub.

its about time to go much beyond the current price, temasek etc majority shareholders should be pushing the starhub mgmt to work smarter and harder
