Yes Sir in retrospect a clean up was certainly necessary in the offshore marine industry. It is dependent on crude oil cycles. Dependence on fossil fuels is key to exploration and production. In 1996 everyone was saying crude oil was sunset industry. It will be in 2067.

I am more than happy with my own stock picking skills. But bulk of my money was made from property investments. My timing was perfect having picked up a few properties in 2006.
My advice is don' t fall in love too much with the stock market.
