Yesterday, a substantial shareholder bought 500 lots. That' s a confidence signal?

Price moved down as expected. Why then open a position at $1.12? Well, with annual dividend of around 7-8 cents, it is ok to take a position first in case the share price unexpectedly keep movin up. Now will be right there waiting at $1.05 with equal propotion size that initiated the position.

Opened a position at $1.12. Would not hope for short term upward movement and ready to add more if it come below $1.10 again, probably waiting at $1.05.

is there any new development or resolution ....
if isn' t then very likely a temporary relief .... the shortists are strategic to suck in new funds before going down again

Imagine now u invest in olam at $1.08 and it slowly drops below $1 and stagnant even when market turns bullish again while ur friend who invest in singtel at $2.3+ now or mapletree pan asia at $1.50 (almost historical low too) and earn handsome profit when singtel returns to $2.6+ or Mapletree returns to $1.80 when market turns bullish again..

So worth to catch a falling knife when there are a lot of good quality trees out there?

The market is in fact in high expectations of the US$1b Olam&rsquo s agri-unit IPO some time early 2024. Will the collapse of the Nigerian Naira bear down on the IPO or will investment gurus still put out buy advices."

==> Investors are now worried about
a) Nigerian Naira currency collapsed means OLAM' s profit going forward will be disappointing. Just recently Olam declared a huge (89% drop) in profit in 1H23.
b) IPOs will be further delayed or even scrapped.

https://www.tremeritus.net/2023/09/14/olams-50b-fraud-in-nigeria-false-or-auditors-in-sg-hq-blur/ The Daily Nigerian is the single original source. On Sep 11 Olam Group Singapore has spoken out [LINK]. It refuted the report as fake news, that there was no investigation of their operation in Nigeria, that Olam Nigeria never has the huge turnover anywhere near US$50b.

Everyone has got it wrong ? The Daily Nigerian, Olam Singapore, and just about everyone who has pushed the story. SSS was not investigating Olam Nigeria. It was investigating Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Both Olam and Temasek will definitely have much more information on the situation than all other shareholders. Whether this information would be defined as price sensitive is a bit grey.

In this context, it may be dangerous for Temasek to buy shares itself. If it did so, and it turns out that this Nigeria rumour is nothing and the share price bounces back to S$1.50, then those who sold at a big loss may feel aggrevied and take Temasek to court for profiting off inside information. This is not to say that they will succeed in such a move of course, but only that they might try..

In contrast, it is much safer for Olam to be doing the share buying. Given Temasek' s shareholding in Olam, effectively it is buying 1 share for every 2 Olam is buying back, without facing the same risk.
